Fire Place Question
We both have never had a fireplace before. If we want to use it, is there something we should do first to make sure its in working order?

Re: Fire Place Question
I would have it cleaned first. and make sure the flume (sp?) is open before you start the fire or else you will have a house full of smoke.

Re: Fire Place Question
Go to eHow.com there are a few articles there. Also, have the fireplace and chimney cleaned and inspected.

Re: Fire Place Question
definitely have someone come over and check it out and clean it before you use it.
and make sure you have a metal cover on the top of it - we had a squirrel situation a few months ago because ours apparently blew off and we never noticed, and a squirrel climbed down the chimney into our house
