Fire works and hearing question?? may be silly but please help a new mom relax!!!
I know this may sound silly but DD is only 5 days old and I am now stressing that I am wrong and did harm to my newborn child.
We were outside last night in the backyard and fireworks started. Well a few very loud ones went off (two people around the block were setting them off) and I did not bring her in right away. All of a sudden a few more very loud fireworks went off and DH told me that he thought it was a good idea to bring her inside because they were way too loud for her and he was very upset that I did not think to do it sooner. So do you think I harmed her hearing in any way???? I have been stressing about this all night and am a little upset

No - I am sure she is fine - wouldn't make a habit of it - but wouldn't stress over it now....
You are still a great Mommy - don't worry - and BTW congrats :)

No worries...We live right across the street from a LIRR station and the horns on the new trains scare the cr@p out of me. DS isn't phased by them. Even when he was a newborn they didn't bother him. You baby will be fine....

Thank you. DH made me feel so guilty and then I was just beating myself up about it. I am so new at all of this and already beat myself up enough about a million other things with regards to DD, I didn't really need to add something else to the list!!!!

Thank you. He was acting like she all of sudden was deaf because the noise didnt make her startle at all. We have a small dog that barks constantly and is very loud and that never bothers her - I am convinced it is because she heard it ever since being in the womb and is now just use to loud noises. She is so good like that and sleeps through everything!!!!

1st of all CONGRATS!!
2nd I'm sure your baby is fine. I don't think a half dozen loud bangs from 2 blocks away can do any damage. Did you get a chance to hear how loud the nursery is at the hospital
And 3rd and MOST importantly tell your DH to lay off! Your hormones are doing crazy things and you don't need anyone adding anymore emotional stress than you already have, just by having a newborn. And besides why didn't he bring her in if he is super dad?!?! I'm sorry, I'm mad at him for you relax, its fine.

DS isn't phased my really loud noises 99 % of the time. But low noises make him jump. Pedi said it was fine. We were at a fireworks show on friday and there was a baby there that slept through the whole show...

Thank you ladies. we actually had her first pediatric appointment today and I made sure to bring this up with the doctor and he sort of laughed and told us what you all have said. Not to worry about it at all. She is fine. I feel a lot better. Thank you!!!!
