First appt with RE Tues... So scared

Hi ladies.. just wanted to introduce myself. DH and i have been trying for a year. I did concieve in january but miscarried by the end of the month. I feel like my OB isnt concerned about hte MC becuase so many girls do MC the first time. but it took us so long for that. MY dh has painful ejaculation and difficulty urnitating and was started on flomax. He is having a cystoscopy done on april 16th. Do you ladies think i should wait. I just feel i have physically and emotionally done so much and everything i can do except for the charting method. What do they do on the first visit? will they even see me, i called and i dont need a referal for my insurance. TIA

By the way.. im CD2 now and i will be CD6 then. I guess i will have to wait the full cycle anyways right before anything is done?

first of all welcome. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

RE's are WONDERFUL people--- even though some of their tests may not be so great, so please, don't be scared... Chat Icon
I'm surprised they didn't send you for CD3 bloodwork ahead of time... although maybe because it's your first appointment they don't know where you are in your cycle. If they have hours on Saturdays, I would give a call in the AM and see if they can fax a prescription to a lab near your house to get it done ahead of time... otherwise just wait it out til next month.
The first appointment is just a lot of questions about your TTC, your and DHs family history, stuff like that...
if they have a lab on site they may take some blood from you to run other tests... I didn't have a sonogram or anything on my first visit.
If possible, definitely bring your DH... it'll be helpful for both of you to speak about your TTC issues, and history.... GL!!!! Hope your stay here is short!

If they said they're planning on have you wait, then that's probably best. They probably want to know exactly what's what--- maybe they'll base what blood tests to have you get done off of that.
DH and I saw my RE before we were TTC (before we were married actually) because I have PCOS and I wanted to establish myself w/ an RE so when the time came ... we'd be comfortable and ready w/ the dr.
YOU ARE YOUR OWN BEST ADVOCATE!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I can't repeat that enough to you. DH is probably feeling embarassed that you feel you (collectively) need 'help'- I saw your post on TTC and I agree w/ you completely. If it is nothing, at least you can narrow the possibility of IF out after a few bloodtests, KWIM? Tell DH that and hopefully it'll make him feel better knowing that you'll feel better just going to discuss your options and see what if anything might be wrong... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon GL! First off, welcome and this is board is an amazing source of information and support. The ladies here have been through a lot and have the scars to prove it.

Given that you were PG a few months ago is a good sign for you but it sounds like your DH may have some things going on which might be slowing down your TTC process. I would def. start with a SA for him and take it from there.

G/L... An RE won't do anything until they run all their required tests on you and your DH.
