First birthday at restaurant?
Can anyone share experiences re: having the first birthday party at a restaurant?
Did you get an entertainer? Did you do centerpieces?
Any info would be awesome!

Re: First birthday at restaurant?
We didn't, but my friend had their DD's 1st b-day at a restaurant. She was one of the first to have kids of the group so no entertainment b/c there was only one other kid. It was mainly family and close friends. pink and white balloons as centerpieces and the favors were all different pink and white frames with different pics of their DD in them.
Since then we all had kids and have had entertainment at parties.

I was going to ask the same thing. How many kids will there be? We are also one of the first in our group to have a baby so DDs first birthday may also be at a restaurant only becuase there would only be about 4-5 kids there.

Re: First birthday at restaurant?
We had DS's first birthday at a restaurant but it was a mostly adult party. We had balloon centerpieces. No entertainment.

Re: First birthday at restaurant?
Def have heard of doing this! I would say cp's are optional as well as entertainment. I guess the type of entertainment would depend on the actual place and what they could accommodate. Look into places with private rooms available and then you can do whatever you want!

We are having it in Long Beach... the restaurant will be closed to the public, so it will just be us.
What kind of entertainment would be good? I have no clue what would be fun for such little kids! Loey is so little now, it's hard to imagine him sitting there for a clown or something... but I guess he would at that age, right?
What do you think would be fun?

Hey Hayley.. Unless you are doing something like a magician..you'll need space for the entertainment. Magicians take up little space everything else kind of does dancing and stuff like that.

Re: First birthday at restaurant?
Maybe get a DJ to entertain the kids? This is what we did for DS' christening and you barely knew they were there.
ETA - Or you could do something like a toy area/craft table (depending on how little the 13 little ones are).

Re: First birthday at restaurant?
I don't really know if you need it, but maybe a face painting type of thing? We went to a 1st birthday where they had someone doing face painting and it was cute. Mostly the toddlers went up for it (the under 1 kids didn't really do it, but not because it was prohibited).
Or maybe someone that does balloon animals? That shouldn't take up a lot of room (for the person doing them) but kids generally love those.

Re: First birthday at restaurant?
We had a clown from Twinkletown entertain the little ones for DD christening. She sang songs, did face painting, some magic- the kids had a great time. Depending on the age of the kids, you can pick the types of activities she will do. It only took up a small space in the corner of the room.

Re: First birthday at restaurant?
We had DD#1s 1st birthday at a local Italian Restaurant/Pizza Place. We did Sesame Street Theme and I was able to put a banner up and put centerpieces on the table with balloons.
We did not have an entertainer as we didn't have the whole restaurant and it was a really small party (only 20 or so people).

Re: First birthday at restaurant?
We had about 100 people at my first DS's bday. I had a clown entertain for an hour. There were under 10 kids. Now there are a lot more kids, so I will probably have an entertainer for an hour and a DJ.

Re: First birthday at restaurant?
why don't you just have someone dress up as Santa. it's right around Christmas, so you could make it like Loey had a special guest appearance by the Big Man himself.
then Santa could give out the party favors as "presents"
other than that, I would either ask if you could hook up an ipod/mp3 player and you could do some little games (freeze, hot potato, simon says) it'll be fun with the little kids.
if you need a ringmaster, let me know

Re: First birthday at restaurant?
We did DS bday at a restaurant. I balloons on some tables and branches in vases on alternating tables. For entertainment we used Darlene Graham who I HIGHLY recommend!!!!

Okay, maybe a character for the little ones (Elmo or something like that). Also, I went to a baptism that had Nick the Balloonist and this literally kept kids of all ages busy for hours (he reallly is awesome). Another idea is somethign along the lines of twinkle town entertainment (clown that sings songs ect). IF you wanna do something more low key I would just have a character for the little ones and then maybe a really cool craft table for the rest. Then maybe a yummy dessert table too (you know your good at deserts!). Good luck planning!!!

I just saw you were already contacting twinkle town! I heard they are really good!!! My girlfriend used them for her sons first bday (at a restaurant) and said they were amazing and the clowns are so pretty and nice!!

We had a DJ and also a girl from Adrenaline who did games, dances and face painting. She was awesome!! We had like 20 kids ranging from 1-9 so we needed something!!

Ya know,I didn't even think of this but yes...I DJ is great too. There is always a DJ at family parites that I go to and they entertain the kids the whole time (games, musical chairs ect). I would say if you do a DJ you don't really need anythign else.
but with that said....I think a DJ gives a different kind of vibe and is more for the older kids (not the babies). If you want to keep it feeling like a baby party I would go for the clowns, characters ect.
