First birthday themes
Do you think I have to have a theme for the first birthday? Marron isn't really "into" anything yet. She does enjoy one Baby Einstein video in particular, but other than that, she seems to like playing with anything we give her.
Also, if I have a "theme" at the party, like a Baby Einstein cake, balloons, plates, do I have to do that for the invitations? Would it look weird to have nice pink invites and then the primary colored Baby Einstein stuff at the party? And what about the Thank You cards?

Re: First birthday themes
You dont have to have a theme...lets face it the first birthday party is not going to be remembered my your DC so its really for the parents!!
Having said that there are lots of cute first birthday ideas out there - go to www.birthdayexpress.com for some ideas.
I did a butterfly theme for my DD and it was as easy to do it all in the same theme as to be mixing and matching...I just ordered everything online and it looked great.
To answer your questions you can totally do nice pink invites and still have the baby einstein theme at your party.
Good luck

Re: First birthday themes
You don't "need" a theme. DD will be one in May, and we're doing a "Princess Tea Party" theme. Mainly lots of pink and stuff, with a tea party motif. It's for the adults, and DW likes tea parties. DS will be 4 in May, and he wants a "Cars" theme, so we're doing what he likes. At 1, though, they don't know or care, so whatever you like is perfect.
The cards (invite or Thank You) don't have to match the theme, or color scheme. Again, it's for you, so whatever you like is fine. People aren't going to avoid the party because the invite doesn't match the party colors. The only time it really matters is if the theme is very important, and everything needs to be focused around the theme (which it doesn't...)

We are doing Sesame Street but for the invitations I am not going with the theme.

I personally like themes (matching invites and all), but you can do whatever you want.

You don't have to have a theme. I just happend to find a fairy theme for the invites that matched the balloons and napkins I bought.

Re: First birthday themes
I don't think you need a theme. But they're fun sometimes. It's more if you feel like doing it at this point since she's not into anything yet. We're doing a Fiesta theme for my son's first because he was born on Cinco de Mayo.

Re: First birthday themes
DS isn't into anything either so I decided on an Under the Sea theme. I just wanted something for the plates, napkins and balloons so it didn't look boring. I made this invitation which doesn't match the plates but I thought it was cute Image Attachment(s):

DS's theme is going to be Mickey Mouse & Friends since he loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Re: First birthday themes
If I chose a theme based on something that Noah liked to play with, our party would have been Tissue Box themed! It would have been cheap!!!

Re: First birthday themes
I am thinking I might do a butterfly theme - so the pictures posted above would be perfect
But we'll see - we have a couple of months to go
