First day at work without pumping

I decided to stop pumping on Tuesday of last week - before we went on vacation. So, today is the first day I'm without DS or pumping. I nursed him this a.m., and will before bed, and may continue this for a while - but wonder what I'm in for as far as weaning those day feedings/pump sessions. I was barely getting anything to begin with lately - does that make a difference in how weaning goes as far as engorgement?
It's so weird to not be a slave to the pump!!

Re: First day at work without pumping

i just did this last month... because my supply was decreasing anyway, i didn't notice any problems with nursing just in the morning and at night. i was easily able to wean over the course of about 3 weeks.

no pain, no engorgement, and now a month and a half later my boobs have shrunk quite a bit Chat Icon

and how nice is it to not have to pump anymore? Chat Icon

is ryan on milk during the day now?

Re: First day at work without pumping

When I stopped pumping at work, it wasn't too bad because like you I wa snot getting much anymore when I pumped.

I was not a great pumper, but I used to get like 7 ounces total when I pumped the 1 time at work. Near the end I was getting like 2-3 ounces maybe.....so that part of weaning was the easy part!

It was a little worse when I stopped the AM & PM nursings. The morning was the easier......by 10PM I was dying for a few days.

It took about a week to not hurt.

It took about 3 -4 weeks total to feel normal!

Yes, I still have a frozen stash that I mix in but he will take a full milk bottle at this point. I don't have much frozen left - he's getting about an ounce of BM per bottle most days. When we were on the plane Saturday night I gave him a full bottle on fresh BM and he sucked it down in 3 seconds - he def. still knows the difference!
