First day back at work - blah
Today was my first day back at work after 3 months maternity. It was ok when I was there b/c i saw my friends and they tried to keep me laughing. My boss had mentioned that he would let me work from home occasionally and I asked if I could work from home on Fridays when it is slow and he denied me! He said that he didn't want to say yes b/c he didn't want me to expect working home every friday and that he would evaluate it on a weekly basis. so now I have to ask him every week for permission. How annoying! Then when I got on the train to start my 1 hour and 15 minute commute home I just started crying. People must have thought i was crazy. my DH watched DS today and my inlaws are watching him tomorrow and friday and then he starts daycare on Monday. I am going to die on Monday. When I got home I started hysterically crying when I saw DS. I like my job and don't want to stay home every day, but wouldn't it be great to go to work when you feel like it...you wake up and say "today I feel like going to work" or "i don't feel like going to work today." please tell me it is going to be ok. I feel like I don't get to spend enough time with him before he goes to bed.

It is such an adjustment period. While it seems near impossible now, it will get easier as time goes on. Wait until you see your little boy interacting with other babies in the daycare! Things like that will make it okay. You will also soon find that quality time will be more valuable than quantity. Hang in there!

Re: First day back at work - blah
I know how you feel.
I had to start transitioning myself so that I don't have a breakdown. I worked one day last week, and yesterday and today only half a day. I start on Monday.
The best part is when he looked at me when I went to pick him up and all he did was smile. I smiled back thru the tears in my eyes.
It's tough, but we'll get thru this transition.
We're mommies, they don't make them any tougher than us!!!!

I am dreading this too. I go back next Monday My Mom will be watching DS at home, but I am still sad to leave him
Like you, I don't think being a full time SAHM would be right for me. I agree with you that it would be nice to pick and choose the days that we would be home vs at work!!

Awww...I know this must be really hard. I am dreading going back for the last few weeks of the school year, even knowing I will then have the summer off. I hope it gets easier for you!

Re: First day back at work - blah
Thanks for the comraderie! I have noticed that since I have gone back to work, my DH and I have gotten into the biggest fights. I know it must be stress, but last night I said some mean things. Today has been better. I didn't cry when I left him, but I called my inlaws who are watching him today and he was hysterically crying. I wanted to jump through the phone!
