First Doc. Appt.

What exactly do they do at the first appt., and how many of you brought your DH's??

At my first appointment (7 weeks) with my regular dr, it was just a pee test and weight & blood pressure. They also gave me a folder of information.
I went back 2 weeks later for a sono @ 9 weeks.

ETA: Did not bring DH, since I knew there was no sono. I had a sono a week before witha specialist and DH came for that.

My first appt, I brought DH. They took blood,pee test and sono anf the Dr took me into his office to answer all the questions you may have. he also discussed how you want to deliver and if you were interested in taking any tests. I was 7 weeks. when you have to do the sono you have to disrobe from the waist down. it is an internal, so you would have to gauge if DH can handle that.

my first appt was 5 or 6 weeks ~ i had a to go to a new dr so all they did was weigh me, took pee test, internal, gave me goodie bag with samples and a quick list of do and do not's... DH did go but did not need to. I would wait for DH to go to the sono appts.

then 7 1/2 weeks i had an internal sono (disrobe waist down) i was not sure how my dh would handle it but actually he surprised me...

my 1st appt was a few days after i got my BFP, i was 4 weeks, i did a urine test to confirm the pregnancy... then i went back at 6 weeks 6 days and they took urine, blood pressure and i got a sonogram and saw the heartbeat. DH and my mom came to both

At my first appt when I got my BFP, they made me take a urine test to confirm, blood work and some ppk to fill out and bring back at my 9 wk sono. DH came with me to both appts.

my first appt was at 8 weeks, and I brought DH. we did a whole bunch of paperwork, met with the nurse who went over a lot about how the office works, tests, etc. had blood work/urine/weight and met with the doctor to go over my history and an internal exam. I was new to the office (just moved), so they were going to do a PAP, but I brought my old gyn records and mine was recent enough not to repeat.

My 1st appointment was a long one. My doctor took information about my family history, went over foods I should/should not eat. She took my blood pressure, urine test, weight & a sonogram.

My DH came, and will come to every appointment.

My first appointment was at 9 weeks and I didn't bring my boyfriend with me because I wasn't sure if I was even pregnant because of the huge amounts of blood that I lost the day before (sorry TMI). All I did was leave a urine sample, they took my blood pressure and weight, drew blood, and then did a pap. The doctor then did an internal sono to see if I was in fact pregnant. And surprise, surprise, I saw the little guy and a beating heart on the screen.

I don't have him come with me to all the monthly appointments - they last about 10 minutes - but he does come to all the fun sonos and that works out perfectly!

DH did not go to my first appointment...my Dr. doesn't do sono's in the office so I didn't see the point.
It was a long visit...He explained all the tests I would have to have, asked me about amnio, did a pap and internal...went over weight gain expectations and what I can't eat. Gave me a prescription for Prenatals and sent me on my way.

I was about 5 weeks pregnant, they did a urine and blood test to confirm, did a sono and gave me a welcome diaper bag.. plus spent about 10-15 minutes going over tons of stuff
DH came with me he was way too excited to not come

blood test, pee, internal exam, pap smear (it had been a year since my last one), weight, blood pressure, info packet, and I got an Rx for prenatal vitamins.

I went alone. DH has only come with me to the sonos.

I usually go to all the appointments by myself unless they involve a sono....

Brian didn't come with me for the first - there was no way that he could tear himself away from the pizzeria unfortunately, but has come to all the sonos to see our

they did lots of blood tests, went over the guidelines for eating, etc., took a family history, etc.
DH did go, and i was glad, because they did a sono (which surprised me) and he would have been so sad to miss it.
