First Doctor's Appointment - 7 Weeks?
My doctor doesn't want to see me till August 28th. She said I have to be at least 7-8 weeks along.
Is this normal?

Yes, there isn't much to see before then. At 7-8 weeks you'll see the heartbeat. Unless you have a history of a problem, most MDs won't see their patients unless that point.

Re: First Doctor's Appointment - 7 Weeks?
Yes. They can't always hear the baby's heartbeat just so you know and don't worry. But they will measure etc.

Right, they may not be able to hear the heartbeat - but by 7-8 wks you should be able to see it.

Re: First Doctor's Appointment - 7 Weeks?
Yes, I did not go until I was 8 weeks and did not get my first sono until I was 10 weeks....the one thing I learned about being pregnant is there is a LOT of waiting (waiting for doctors appointments, waiting for sonos, waiting to feel the baby kick, etc)
It was a LONG 39 weeks for me
congrats

Re: First Doctor's Appointment - 7 Weeks?
Yes. My first visit was when I was a little over 8 wks. Office policy to not schedule appt's before that unless previous problems. The waiting is killer but the first time you see your little guy/girl it will be all better!
Congrats

You might want to move over to the pg board now that you got your BFP! Best of luck for the next 9 months!

Re: First Doctor's Appointment - 7 Weeks?
I had mine at 8 weeks. Totally normally, completely frustring There really isn't much to see beforehand which is why they usually wait but it's definitely a long wait. Totally worth it when you get there though Congratulations!!

Re: First Doctor's Appointment - 7 Weeks?
I do NOT want to be an alarmist or cause anyone to freak out, but it is imperative that you trust your body and if you think something isn't right, insist upon an appointment.
I had odd pain in my lower abdomen, which I thought were "stretching pains". I was experiencing significantly more pain than my friends spoke of and I pushed for an early sono.
My pregnancy was ectopic and I was bleeding internally when they caught it at 7.5 weeks. Had I waited, my life would have been in danger within 48 hours of the sono.
Ectopics are VERY RARE, but they do happen. Please do not ignore anything that you think may not be right --- even if the doctor wants you to wait.
