First Internal at 36 weeks?

I have mine next week...
What can i expect? Does it hurt?

Will the doctor be able to give me any clues as to whether DS will arrive early or late?

Re: First Internal at 36 weeks?

they will check to see if you are effaced or dilated. and where the baby's head is (what level it has descended to).

It's a little uncomfortable, but totally fine. It's like a regular internal.

You may experience some cramping/bleeding afterwards, but nothing major.Chat Icon

I have mine next week too, but I will be almost 37 weeks. I am also getting a strep test and pap done.

Re: First Internal at 36 weeks?

The internals don't hurt at all. They're just slightly uncomfortable like any internal. Your dr will basically check to see if you've effaced, dropped, cervix is softened.

The Streb B is just a quick swab.

Re: First Internal at 36 weeks?

None of my internals hurt at all (I had 7 all together because I delivered late). I wasn't dilated or anything though so I don't know if it hurts more if you are.
