First IVF Tomorrow

I am a new Dr. b patient, after problems elsewhere and rave reviews from a number of my friends.

I have had several miscarriages, three failed IuIs. We are paying OOP for this, and are super poor because our house got destroyed in both hurricanes. We are still not home.

So... We are not sure if we can afford a second IVF if this doesn't work. Please say a prayer for us, it has been a rough go.

As of Saturday, I had 26 follies, none dominant.

I go tomorrow to the city place, app at at 130. What should I expect? When will I leave? Can I take LIRR home by myself? Will I be okay for work on Wednesday?

Today I feel super full, like I ate three Thanksgiving dinners. I guess that is from the trigger and the giant follies.

you are going to do great!

u can expect to fil out tons of paper work

then u get undresses and i met with doc embryologist and anesthesiologist ..some quick stuff to go over

then the iv was in and he said what is your name..i answered..he said count back from 100..i think i got to 98

i would very very strongly suggest not taking the lirr home alone

i was out of ot and nauseous from the meds and spent hours in recovery bc i was so nauseous

and when i left it was hard to walk bc i was sore

as for the next day..i was in pain so no i would not have gone to work

I did 5 IVFs and had NO PROBLEMS after retrival....all depends on person.
26 follies with no dominant OMG you are fertile girl........you will surely get prego with all the embryos you will create. Good Luck!!

What would the average number of follies for IVF be? I have no baseline to even compare to.

I would DEFINITELY make sure to have someone go with you. I know my RE requires you to have someone go with you on the day of the ER. You will most likely be groggy from the anesthesia and each time your reaction can vary so you will not know how you will feel.

As for recovery, I felt awful for 3 days BOTH times. My E2 levels were very high - borderline OHSS. I was VERY uncomfortable. ETA: I would not have felt okay to go to work the next day. I went to work on the third day since I felt "better", but I was actually pretty uncomfortable all day.

I had about 20 mature eggs (I think 19 and 21) for both cycles.

How many eggs they put back is determined by lots of factors: age, embryo quality, etc. I have put back 2-3, but we had poor embryo quality. If I had good embryo quality, I would put back 2, but it is a personal decision. Are you comfortable with multiples?

I am definitely fine w multiples. I would also be done then, which is fine with me. We have been doing this for three years, I can't see trying again.
