First leg cramp this morning.....
Holy dear sweet fancy Moses!!!! I woke up at 4 am SCREAMING. I can't believe how fast and LONG it lasted. I couldn't move it.....
DH literally had to hold me down and force my foot up to stretch it out!!!
Now it's sore as hell and I'm terrified it's going to happen again.....

Re: First leg cramp this morning.....
so sorry, i know how it is!! i've been getting them everynight for a while.
i don't totally buy the banana thing, because i eat all the bananas, oj with calcium, all the things they say and i still get them. one of my pregnancy books also says that additional explanation is decreased circulation in your legs, pressure of the uterus on major blood vessels, as well as standing, sitting, lying for a long time, slowing blood supply to these muscles.
they suggest: wearing support stockings during day. avoid standing or sitting for long periods.
exercise your calf muscles before bed.
have your partner massage your calf muscles before bed.
elevate your legs on a pillow at night.
sleep on your left side.
hope that helps!

Re: First leg cramp this morning.....
I get the cramps all the time (scares the heck out of DH ). What I have found helps the most is to immediately place my foot flat on a cold floor. We have hardwood floors in the bedroom, so it works pretty quickly...depending on how quickly I can get out of bed. And usually, the muscle is sore for a day or two after....feel better

Yikes, I haven't gotten these yet but I have heard that placing your foot flat on the floor does wonders and stretching while you do it.

Re: First leg cramp this morning.....
I had this a couple of weeks ago. First one ever. My leg was really sore for two days. I am so nervous that it will happen again. But it has yet to happen!

It's amazing how well this works...for me at least! I've been suffering from leg cramps for years (not just from pregnancy) and I've only just realized this is the best way to get rid of them. Now I know I can never have carpeting in my bedroom...

Re: First leg cramp this morning.....
The same thing happened to me the other night...both legs...at the SAME time! I was in agony! We didn't have any bananas in the house so I didn't know what else to eat that has potassium. I started stretching at night and they haven't come back so far. I read it in a book...you stand about 2 feet away from the wall and lean forward as if you are holding up the wall. Hold for 10 seconds and then rest for 5. Repeat 3 times. Hope that helps and the your cramps won't return.
