First OB appt...did this happen to anybody? Updated!
Long story short, DH and I have been TTC for almost 2 years now. We decided to give 1 last shot at Clomid before going to IVF (we've already done 4 IUIs). We got the BFP about 2 weeks ago!! 
So I had my first appt. today and from my calculations I am just 6 weeks today. When the doc did the sono, he saw the gestational sac, but didn't see the baby in there. I have to go back on Monday for another sono. He said a couple of day can make a big difference. Then before I left he said, "We're keeping our fingers crossed for you" which I didn't think was too reassuring.
So my question is, has anybody ever seen nothing at 6 weeks and then had everything be okay a week or 2 later? I know the sono today was early, so I'm just hoping that is what is going on. I don't know if I can handle another MC.

The same thing happened to me last week... I went in as a new ob patient, 4w5d along, and they only saw the sac on the sono. They are having me come back in at 7 weeks for anohter sono, but both the dr & sono tech were kind of un-reassuring. I was upset at the time, but I think everything is OK. I think they just try not to get people's hopes up, but it is SOOO frustrating for us moms who just want everything to be OK.

happened to me. looked like an empty black circle to me but Dr. said there was a yolk sac. we saw the heartbeat at 7 weeks.

the same exact thing happened to me! I was 6 weeks exactly (we know exact b/c we did IVF) and there was just a sac. I was soooooooooo upset and the doctor was not very reassuring. I went back at exactly 7 weeks and there it was, and he picked it up right away! He told me that it could've been just too early or the fact that i have a tilted uterus could've made it more difficult to see. And today I went in for my ultrascreen (i am 12 weeks 1 day) and all is great! I can't tell you to relax, because I know how you feel...and the time between now and your next appt will feel like an eternity. The best advice I have is to just try to stay busy and stay off the internet as much as possible.

Same here. We saw only the sac at 6w2d and then the HB at 7 weeks.

Please keep grounded. I know its so hard. This happened to me also at 6 weeks and it ended up being a blighted ovum and I had to have a dnc. Words cant express how devastating this was to us. Best wishes that everything turns out okay.

Stay positive. It is very normal to see just a sac at this point. Many Practtioners won't even do a sono until about 8 weeks because there is very little to see in the begining.
Relax, as long as you aren't bleeding and cramping that is a good sign.
HOpefully you will see your bean soon!

Thank you everybody for your words of encouragement. I got a call from my doc today and he said that my progesterone and HCG levels look really great and he is very reassured by what he sees so far. He said that Monday's test will tell more, but for now I should relax. So I'll try to do that until Monday.

Update:
Well I went yesterday and there it was!! I was 6w6d based on calculations and that is exactly what the baby measured!!! We could see the heart beating away, but couldn't hear it just yet.
So hopefully, things will continue on schedule from here on out!!
I can't even tell you how relieved I am.
