First OB apt - soooo not happy
I went to my first OB apointment today which was awful! I've never met a dr with such a bad bedside manner. He was treating me like a complete idiot and when i was asking questions about what meds I can take, he started yelling at me that i can't take anything. I know i'm hormonal but needless to say I left crying and hysterical. I am definitely going to look for a new dr.
The good news is that everyone is ok!!! I have been so worried the last few days and I don't know why. Babies measured at 10W3D and 10W5D, he didn't take a heart rate and only said they were 'fine'.
Dr did a pap smear (which was no more uncomfortable than any others). This was the first time I have ever bled after and it's been a little clotty. He said it was normal to bleed for a few days and not to worry. I don't know about the clotting? That bothers me a little bit.
I have another apt at the end of the month but i would really like to find a dr (high risk) that is closer to suffolk county. If i have to go every other week, i really don't want to drive 30 miles.

I went to a high-risk OB in West Islip..I don't know if that's close enough for you. She was great - very nice, explanative and patient. She's across from Good Sam.

He sounds like a jerk. And yes you can take some medications while pregnant.
Internal exams/pap smears are ALWAYS more painful during pregnancy and get worse the further along you get. I also never bleed/spot during a routine check up but always did after that first prenatal one.

I'm so glad your babies are doing well!
You need to find someone you are happier with.
Even if this is a good MD: your personalities are not clicking and you are really going to have to trust this person.
FYI: my OB "played" with ours at a little less than 10 weeks and showed us it moving arms and legs, scanned my placenta & warned about the fact that I may have some bleeding. You two should be interacting more.
Try asking your RE for reccs.

Thanks everyone for letting me vent! I'm feeling much better today though still spotting a little bit. Hopefully it doesn't go on for too long. I went for blood tests at the RE this morning but they didn't really give me any names.
I'm going to try to make a few phone calls today and find a new OB. Maybe i was being hormonal or sensitive but i know i need someone who understands.

You need to find a new doctor. Don't feel like it is you being hormonal. Your doctor sounds like he acted like a jackass. You don't deserve that at all.

Definitely get a good Dr.
Where in Suffolk..my regular OB is in E. Setauket. I had to see a high risk specialist for an evaluation at the beginning and he was in E. Setauket as well.

Thanks!!!! You were actually the second one to recommend her. I made an appointment with her in Plainview (it was a toss-up as to where since both offices are about the same distance from me). It's funny because she didn't come up in the UHC site when I entered maternal med/perinatal dr's. I only found her on the website when I entered her name but she was under MM.
Unfortunately I have to wait until March 10 to see her in the eve but that should work out ok. I am going to the other dr for my ultrascreen. Hopefully I don't have to see him!!! If worse comes to worse, i can probably call one of the other offices to see if i can get an earlier apt.
