first OB visit

I went today, I knew it was early, but they did the internal sono... doctor didn't see anything and didn't think he would. Kind of disappointing, but I'm hopeful that in 2 weeks when I go back there will be someone to see in there.

He said the urine test they did there came up positive and he took blood. I'll get the blood result back tomorrow.

DD I didn't go to the doctor till I was 6w5d... and there was a sack and a little "bean". I know this was crazy early, even I knew I had tested at home early. I only did the POS test early b/c I wasn't feeling well and wouldn't take any meds... I got to a point where I felt like if I was suffering and not PG I'd be annoyed... if I tested neg I was going to take something. Turned out it was positive so I didn't take anything.

UPDATE (sort of - well, more info): I'm about 5 weeks this week. I know it's very early, but I had to go right away b/c when I'm PG I need to be on blood thinners ASAP. The only reason I did a home PG test was b/c I wasn't feeling well, if I had tested negative I would have taken some meds. But b/c I tested positive, I called the doctor the next day... I asked if it was too soon to make an appt, but they told me I needed to come in when I did... sooner than later. I guess they can't take any chances.

He gave me the script for the prenatals and the blood thinner, but told me to hold off on filling the latter until he got the blood test results which he said he should have by today... I never got a call and when I called they said they didn't have them back yet, but also seemed confused about my name as my insurance during my PG with DD was still under my maiden name even though we were married... now it's changed over, but they asked me if it was hyphenated. I told them it could be or may not be. I have a feeling my test results are lost. Chat Icon

If I don't hear by 12pm tomorrow, I'm calling again. Is that overkill? I don't like to be too annoying.

Re: first OB visit

I just went to my first visit. It depends on how far along you are.
I am almost 5 weeks and all they did was take blood. I gave a urine sample, and they took a history. They also give me samples and a prescription for prenatals.

Most doctors won't see you until you are at least 8 weeks and they may give you an internal sonogram.
Some doctors will let you have one around 6 weeks because you may see a heartbeat.

Re: first OB visit

Found out that the blood test came back as positive as well. I have to have more blood drawn at a lab tomorrow for some reason... I think to make sure the levels go up. I take it by my next appointment in 2 weeks there will be something to see. I hope anyway.
