Re: first sono, confused...
I think I heard the heartbeat at 9 weeks. I had a sono at 7 but I don't think I heard the heartbeat. I wouldn't worry yet.

Re: first sono, confused...
I went for my 1st sono at 6 1/2 weeks and they were able to see the heartbeat, but they said that it sometimes can start as late as 7-8 weeks so if I didn't see one at the 1st sono they would make me come back the following week to check.

Re: first sono, confused...
I dont think the heartbeat always starts at the 5 weeks , so maybe there is just a delay and it will start beating soon

Re: first sono, confused...
all I saw at my first sono was the sac (6weeks). I saw the heartbeat for the first time at my second visit which I think was 8 weeks.
Now I'm 21 weeks and my baby is measuring almost 1 week ahead so I wouldn't worry!

Re: first sono, confused...
I was 5w6d for my first sono, all they saw was the sack. They didn't seem concerned though- and they rescheduled a sono for 7 w, saying it was way too early. I think I was like 7 w 3 d next sono, when we saw the flicker.

Re: first sono, confused...
I went for my first sono yesterday (i am 7 weeks) and we saw the heartbeat ~ look like little flutters (for my first appt to confirm that we were pregnant the doctor that i saw said it might be too early to see the heartbeat and don't freak out if we don't see the heartbeat... but we did see it) sometimes it might take longer ~ don't freak out wait until your next appt... try to relax... don't want to stress yourself and your baby!

Re: first sono, confused...
My 1st sono was at 5w5d because I was bleeding. We were able to see that heartbeat. My dr said that it was early and had we done the sono a day earlier we might not have seen anything. I'm sure everything is fine.

Re: first sono, confused...
Before my first sono the OB said not to expect a heartbeat b/c it was early. I was 7 weeks. I did end up hearing and seeing it. But because she said that, its obviously normal to not hear at that time.

Re: first sono, confused...
This happened to me when I was pregnant with my first. I went in when I was 6 weeks and didn't see a heartbeat. They told me to come back at 8 weeks. I saw it then. Oh, and the reason why they didn't see a heartbeat at 6 weeks was because the sono showed I was measuring 5wks 4days.

Re: first sono, confused...
I went in at 5w2d and just saw a sac. At 7w2d we saw the flicker. Try not to worry too much and day makes a big difference at your point. You don't know when implantation occurred so it can go like a week either way

Re: first sono, confused...
I saw the heartbeat at 6w3d. Some people don't see it until later. Try to think positive! Do you go back soon? <- nevermind, I just saw Jan 2nd.

Re: first sono, confused...
My doctors flat out refused to see me until I was 8 weeks specifically because it's not uncommon to not get a heartbeat before then & they didn't want to cause any additional stress. Definitely try to stay positive.

Re: first sono, confused...
I had my first sono at 8 weeks. I went for an office visit at 6 weeks and they said to wait on the sono because sometimes that is too early to hear the heartbeat

Re: first sono, confused...
It's really too early for a heartneat. When I went at 8 weeks I was rold not to panic because they might not find a heartbeat at that point. There was one but it was very small. 10+ weeks is usually a good sono time.
