First Sono tomorrow!

I am so excited - and a litte nervous - about my 5 week and 4 day sonogram tomorrow. What can I expect at this visit? Will we be able to see anything? What else does the doctor do at this appointment?

2nd it depends on how far along you definitely are. you might be able to see the sac and a teeny blurp with the fetal pole. Chat Icon

So exciting!! I would think you'd at least be able to see the sac. Good luck!

Good luck. I was able to see the sac and a small dot on the screen that was my baby.

Re: First Sono tomorrow!

You will see a tadpole and the sac! It's an internal sonogram which they do vaginally. The doctor will show you this quick blinking white spot which is the baby's heartbeat! I thought it was so cool.

Good luck!!

ETA: I went when I was in my 8th week so the baby was more developed at that point. So don't freak if you don't see those things. Sometimes it takes until the 6th week for the heartbeat to be substantial enough to read.

Re: First Sono tomorrow!

I had my first sono today. I was nervous and excited at the same time. The sono didn't show a lot though. The doctor said he could see the gestational sac and after a lot of further searching he showed us a dot that he said was probably the yolk sac. No visible fetal pole for us yet. I'm supposed to go back next week for another sono - but I am debating whether I should.

ETA: The doc did give us a copy of the sono though. He was really nice and tried to get the best shot of the dot, i.e. the yolk sac.

Re: First Sono tomorrow!

Good luck!! At 5weeks with my DS, all i saw was a sac so don't get worried if that is all you see.

I think I was closer to 8 weeks when we saw the heartbeat!
