First time sleeping out
DD is 14 months old and I have yet to spend a night away from her. Part of this stems from EBFing, part of it just being her mom. Tonight is the first night that she will sleep at my parents house. It's a last minute thing as our friends are in from out of town and they want to go out to dinner. We know we will be out late and it's not fair to ask my parents to stay at our house until DH and I get home. She will be at my mom's all day today since I am at work. And it kills me that I do not get to see her until tomorrow. I know that it's fine and that I totally deserve a night out, but I feel guilty and sad. I guess I just need to rip the bandaid off already and get over it. Just wanted to hear from other moms that everyone else does it and it's OK and that DD will still love me tomorrow

Re: First time sleeping out
Go enjoy and spend a family day tomorrow. She's in the best hands and she'll be so distracted with Grandma and Grandpa (getting spoiled I'm sure). Tomorrow you will have your fun, family day. Tonight... go and enjoy. Drink and sleep late!

It will be fine. You deserve it. We actually had DD stay at my parents house when she was 3 months old for the night. It's great bonding time with the grandparents and as much as it's great to get a babysitter for the night it's even better to sleep in the next day. (especially if there were cocktails involved )

Re: First time sleeping out
I had a very similar situation (late night plans, EBFing, stayed at my parents). I was more nervous than anything and it worked out fine - and dd was only 6.5 months old! Now that I've done it once, I'm much more comfy doing it again.
Good luck and enjoy your night out!
