First time your baby is really sick...
How much does it SUCK?! 
My 6 months old DS is pretty sick and it is torture for me. He has a fever (103) and is VERY congested, cannot breathe at all. He is so mopey and lethargic. We went to the Ped today and she said he seems ok but to come back tomorrow if his fever is still high. 
It is funny b/c I thought oh no big deal he is just sick but it has become a BIG deal!! He is so miserable and not sleeping, therefore we are miserable and not sleeping. At one point he didn't sleep at all for 12 hours straight  He is awake with his eyes closed and whimpering, unable to hold his head up. I know he just wants to sleep so badly but he cannot breathe. We even got the nosefrida  it helped a tiny bit.
Also, what is this high fever virus? Should I be more concerned? His Ped acted like it was nothing. He has been like this since Wednesday. Tomorrow is Saturday and they have some morning hours. I feel like it is my last shot with his Ped before Monday, so is it normal to go in the next day if they have a fever? I am confused.
Disclaimer: I am a super sleep deprived woman, sorry if I make no sense.  TIA
ETA: Oh and now he has a croupy cough that developed after the Ped, should I be concerned?

Awe...It does suck.... Have you tried elevating the head of the crib or maybe let him sleep in a swing or bouncy seat to help him stay upright and help him breathe better. Also saline nose drops help a bit...My DS went through the same thing around 4 months...Hopefully he will feel better soon...

our dr put ava on med when they heard chest congestion.
its very hard=when she was sick I was sick too.

We tried all of that, the elevated crib worked pretty good but he wakes up and then can't fall back asleep. The saline drops seem to help a bit, we also got vicks baby rub. He really just wants us to hold him and even then sometimes he will not sleep.
My DS is huge so all of the baby stuff like swing, bouncy he has outgrown, we don't even have it in the house 
So I guess my question is (after my rambling) should I take him to the Ped or does this sounds like just a normal cold? I thought babies could have fevers for up to 5 days?

Didn't even mention that, I am sick too, so is DH! That is on the bottom of our worries though. It is a weird position to be in, not being able to really care for yourself (I guess that's motherhood, lol). We are not as bad as him though, I really hope it stays that way!!!

Poor baby  It sounds like a bad cold and you're doing everything you should be doing. Have you tried sitting in the bathroom with him with the hot shower on so he can inhale the steam? It's sooo hard when they are sick, you feel so bad for them and at the same time YOU feel awful bc they don't sleep (hence no sleep for mommy!) and are miserable. I hope he feels better soon

Awe...It happened here too. I had a bad cold and gave it to my DS. Try the steam to unclog him. But not too long with a fever so high. Also try a humidifier. All he wants is you and all you want is sleep. I spent a few nights in the recliner with my son when he was sick like that. I just propped him up with some pillows and thats how we slept.....

Thanks! That is what my DH is doing right now, rocking him in the chair. I guess we just have to let it run its course.
