First visit to a new mom in the hospital (normal situation)
My niece and nephew were very premature twins so my only experience was that until this weekend. Well its scary!! I mean really never understood how frightening this whole birth process really is when you enter the hospital.
I visited "mommy" but she is livid because she specifically said NO BOTTLE but after 3 hours of pushing she had a c-section so in recovery the baby was given a bottle. Now he doesn't want the boob and i feel horrible because she is trying to feed and he is just screaming his head off for the bottle. Then you have a neighbor next to you who is trying to sleep while your trying to feed a screaming baby and WOW! She doesn't want to disturb anyone and its upsetting for her, baby and roommate. I felt like I was going to have an anxiety attack so I can only imagine how she felt. I feel bad because she wants to go home but she is stuck in the hospital. I told her I thank you for asking me to visit you because this is really a learning experience and completely NOTHING like they show you on a TV show.
So I give it up to you guys. Not only will everyone see your V in the birthing room, you have everyone see your boobs, nipples nursing measuring your pee - examining your poo and all that jazz. Completely not the pretty picture they paint on tv.

Where is the "like" button?
True... "reality tv" is the furthest thing from "reality".

It can suck big time. A lot of people complain about it.
I was lucky b/c DD was born on Thursday afternoon and I was home Saturday morning - maybe thats why it didn't bother me so much?

honestly, everyone is different, but I had a great experience. I too had a c-section and once I was settled it wasn't bad. And personally I enjoyed all my visitors. Also, its all about the baby, sorry, not mommy's comfort. JMO. I did have the room to myself for majority of my stay so it wasn't bad.

Re: First visit to a new mom in the hospital (normal situation)
i keep encouraging her but its kinda pointless coming from me (CF) but i said i read it takes time and some serious screaming but he will do it. I just feel bad because her and i are in the same boat we both didn't think the experience would be like that. I am lucky I didn't go through it but man it really prepared me for the future.
