Re: Flat feet...
I have flat feet, but they are not completely flat. It sucks.
You should see a podiatrist and get orthotics. I used to work for one who told me about my feet and they make a mold of your foot to make inserts for your shoes.
I find that my main complaint is that no matter what shoes I am wearing, my feet hurt when I walk any longer than 20 minutes. I can wear the best shoes in the world and it makes no difference. I really need to get orthotics because its getting worse.

Re: Flat feet...
I got my orthotics last week. With my insurance it only cost 30 dollars; which is good considering i was buying Dr Scholls for 10 dollars a pop and needed a new pair every month. These are supposed to last at least 2-3 years.
If you dont want to try the orthotics, try Orthaheel shoes. They have a high arch and support your heel so they help. I have a pair of slippers and sandals (since i cant wear orthotics in those) and they make my feet feel normal. It does take a few days/weeks to get used the the shoes though, depending on how bad your feet are.
If you get them at soleprovisionsshop.com they have quick shipping, 30 day return policy on Orthaheel (even if you wear them) and free return shipping.
ETA: I think Orthaheel also makes inserts, but I haven't tried them. I don't know the quality on those.

Re: Flat feet...
I've had flat feet my whole life. I wore orthotics as a kid, but stopped as a teen. I began getting heel pain last year, and was diagnosed with plantar fascitis, due to my flat feet. My podiatrist gave me generic orthotics, and said that custom ones would not be covered by insurance. I've been using them regularly, and they help, but I want to get a second opinion from a different doctor.
I want to try the Orthaheel shoes. I wore FitFlops all of last summer, and they helped a lot.

I've had flat feet all my life. I should have had orthotics but I have only had the store bought inserts. I have had all kinds of treatments for problems that resulted from the way that I walk, though.

Oh, I walk funny for sure! My feet cave inward, leaving a gap on the outside edge of my shoes. I have an ongiong problem with one of my pinky toes and I think it is related to foot positioning when I walk but it might not be.

I asked b/c the one doctor I spoke to about my feet made a lot of assumptions about how I walked. But my shoes, apparently, told a different story.
