NEW YORK (AP) -- A plane at LaGuardia Airport was searched Thursday after a bomb threat was reported, officials said.
American Airlines Flight 382 from Chicago landed safely and 117 passengers and five crew members were taken off the plane before the search began, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which runs the airport.
The plane was moved away from other aircraft for the search, but the airport remained open.
Bomb-sniffing dogs were sweeping luggage and the plane, and luggage was being matched to the passengers

jaded NY'er perspective:
my gut instinct says its another false alarm. Last july, I flew into JFK, and the terminal I was going into was shut down a few hours earlier becuase of another bomb scare.... it was nothing. But the media hyped it so much that I got minute by minute coverage from CANADA!
Of course officials have to thoroughly investigate, be extremely cautious, and presume the worst.... my gripe is that the media hypes the #@$@#out of it, and turns a potentially dangerous situation into an instantaneously terrifying situation without just cause....
Now if they actually CONFIRM that there's a bomb, then it warrants the media attention. Until then

That is weird, I checked the website and the only flt 382 was Chicago to LGA earlier today. Did this happen about 1:30pm this afternoon?

Thank you. I did not want to freak out people in case a family member was on that flight. I just wanted to get the word out in case someone was flying today of if a family member was on that flight.
