Flouride Pills??
Do you give these to your children? My pediatrician wrote me a prescription at 6 months and both DH and me decided not to fill it since we felt it was a little too much. Now we read that kids should be either getting a pill or drinking tap water from the faucet. I am confused about what to do.
Can you tell me if you give these to your children. Thanks!

Re: Flouride Pills??
I still have not given Andrew extra fluoride tablets or vitamins.
I have always used the nursery water with fluoride so I thought it was too much of an overkill.

Both my boys have been taking Poly-Vi-Flor since 6 months. My ped recommended it as well as my dentist....

Re: Flouride Pills??
Personally, I would NOT give them to Ava. I always used tap water for her bottles and she drinks tap water now. I just think the pills are excessive, imo.

My pediatrician said that Nassau definitely doesn't have flouride in the water

Re: Flouride Pills??
Long Island water is not fluoridated. Only areas of the city are. You have to be careful with fluoride. Too much of it can harm the teeth and more importantly the bones. Thats why you should not use nursery water and fluoride vitamins at the same time. I use the vitamins once a week. I have seen so many of my patients get fluorosis that I will not give them daily. It's definitely something to research on your own to make an informed decision of what to do
