FlowerWife's Crazy Atypical Medicated Cycle Journal - FINAL UPDATE 7.25

I decided to start a journal for this cycle in hopes that it benefits anyone that has PCOS, clotting issues, immune issues, has had chemical pregnancies, and/or an atypical protocol...

And I won't lie, I am also starting this journal to have all of my cycle info in one place so i dont have to make a bunch of separate posts .

So here is some background info. I will try to keep is short since I typically am extremely long-winded in my writing .


ME: 29
DH: 30
TTC: 14 months
DIAGNOSES: PCOS (Main Symptom is High LH), Clotting Issue PAI-1 4G/5G Polymorphism, Immune Issue Elevated NK Cells, DH and I are also Partial HLA-C Matches, Recurrent Chemical Pregnancies



A Brief Cycle Timeline
5/09 - Went off BCP After 12 Years
7/09 - No AF since stopping BCP, given Provera
8/09 - First Ovulatory Cycle Post-BCP, O on CD32
10/09 - No O or AF Since 8/09, Went to Ob/Gyn, Given Clomid and Provera and No Further Instructions
11/09 - Started Seeing Dr. B, Officially D/x with PCOS, Continued Clomid Cycle from Ob/Gyn with Dr. B Monitoring, No O
12/09 - First Injectable Cycle - Timed Intercourse - Femara/Follistim (150us) - Hyperstim, 10+ mature Follies, Cycle Cancelled, Mild OHSS followed by 3 weeks of BCP
2/10 - Second Injectable Cycle - Timed Intercourse - Slow Stim, Did not respond to Femara/Gonal-F (37.5ius), repeated protocol at 75ius, no response. Switched back to follistim, 21 days of stimming finally got 2 mature follies. Ovidrel Trigger. Progesterone Supps. No AF. At 17DPO had a beta of 5, 2 days later beta of 2 and AF, Chemical Preganancy.
3/10 - Time off from Medicated Cycles (new job), Start Metformin, O CD36, AF CD46.
5/10 - Third Injectable Cycle - Timed Intercourse - Femara/Follistim 75ius also Metformin/Dexamethasone/Vitamin E - 2 Follies, Ovidrel Trigger, Crinone Progesterone, BFP at 12DPO. Beta 42 at 14DPO. Beta 46 at 16DPO, Pregnancy deemed not viable, Beta 41 at 17DPO. M/C and Beta 0 at 23 DPO.


This Cycle
Last AF was the M/C Bleed on 5/25. No O or AF since. B/w and sono on 6/26 - nothing going on but LH still high. Dr. B said I don't have to bleed first and can start this cycle right away.
Hysteroscopy on 6/28, all clear.

Current projected protocol:
start ganirelix in the morning of 7/1, do three days of shots, and add follistim on 7/4. Next sono b/w 7/9.
Cycle is planned to be timed intercourse.

After some confusion - Kraupners sent a vial and syringes, I thought the ganiralix was coming in pre-filled syringes. I didn't know what the dose was, it said it on the vial but i was confused and felt better talking to Dr. B's office before injecting... Well after all of that i did my first ganirelix injection in the bathroom at work ! But its done. Same protocol every day, then add 75ius of follistim on 4th of July.

Current Meds:
25 units Ganirelix

Added follistim, 75ius last night and every night until my monitoring appointment this Friday. I'm a little nervous because over the weekend I noticed some EWCM. i typically only see EWCM if i am really Oing on my own. So Im hoping the ganirelix is doing its job and suppressing my LH, while at the same time I am nervous that my body is producing follies on its own, so adding follistim may cause me to hyperstim. "Luckily" I know what hyperstimming feels like, and if i start getting MAJORLY bloated and feel CONSTANT follie twinges, i will prob contact Dr. B earlier and try to go in for my sono earlier in hopes that I won't hyperstim. But for right now, so far so good!

25 units Ganirelix - AM
75ius Follistim - PM

Well apparantly it's GO TIME!! I've never stimmed this quick before, but I had my Dr. B appointment this morning and I have one nice 23mm eggie!!!! It usually takes me a few extra days of follistim, and i have NEVER made an egg that big either!!
So Trigger tonight!! all weekend!! And an additional sum of meds...

Intralipids (either tomorrow or Monday)

Monday Start Crinone Progesterone

It burns a lot but I think I am already getting used to.

We have some work to do this weekend but by Monday I will be in the 2WW!

7.12.10
So this morning I got word from Trinity that the intralipids were covered by my insurance !! I am SO happy since it's guaranteed, BFP or not, that I have to do them again. But in case anyone else has to do them and doesnt have coverage, mine was $450 total if it wasn't going to be covered. That includes the meds, the nurse, and the administration. And they processed everything and had a nurse at my house in 24 hours. I highly recommend them!!!

Anyway, so I triggered on (for all intents and purposes) CD9. We are still doing timed BD, since we figure we were able to get pregnant twice on injectable cycles and BD alone, but neither of them stuck. Dr. B didn't say we would have any more luck with IUI since my issues are ovulating and staying pregnant, not actually getting pregnant (aparantly ). Anyway, today is CD12. We CD8, 10, 11, 12.

I start progesterone tonight.
I suppose I can officially consider myself in the 2WW!!! Or for me, more like the 12Day Wait, since i plan to test around 7/23, since I normally have a 10 day LP anyway. Anyway I can't believe after the m/c bleed on 5/25 and waiting a little over 5 weeks to start meds again (with no AF in between) that I stimmed and triggered so quickly this time!! Anyway, that my 23mm follie becomes a sticky bean!!

Tested this morning BFN, its ~12DPO
I am very sad. I know they say you arent out til AF shows, but I am not hopeful at this point. My LP without progesterone is about 10 days so its prob just the progesterone keeping AF away.
Anyway I moved my beta up to tomorrow so I can be sure and move on to next cycle. I have a bachelorette party this weekend so at least i can drink away my sorrow

Had the beta yesterday, BFN. Stopped progesterone and lovenox yesterday. Waiting for AF to arrive so that we can start again. I feel a little foolish because I really thought this was it. I had many of the same symptoms this cycle that I had my last BFP cycle, so I let myself almost expect a BFP, and wasnt really prepared for it to be BFN. So in a way I feel both sad AND dumb .
After going through a m/c, I feel a combo of sadness for not being pregnant again, but also not so sad, because a BFN isnt emotionally scarring and its pretty easy to get over in comparison.

I will do another cycle right away. Not sure what Dr. B's plans are yet, probably similar to this cycle. I'm lucky because in 15 months this is actually my first BFN from a medicated cycle where I successfully ovulated. My other two successful ovulation cycles on injectable meds ended up in chemical PGs. So its really the first time I've had to deal with a BFN.... and hopefully the last!!!

Glad you are getting use to the meds.

P.S. I take Lovenox I find icing before and after minimizes the Bruises and Burning.

I ice before for a few seconds, then grab a section of skin/fat quickly inject the needle, then ice for a few seconds after. It rarely bruises or burns.
