Flu & IVF

I am supposed to start my next IVF cycle around 7/15.
I have the flu right now.
Do you think this would effect it?
I can't afford to take chances at this point. If I have to I guess I can wait another month?
I am also going through a stressful time at home thanks to some of DH's family members who are staying with us (including their 2 year old)...but that is another story.

Re: Flu & IVF

Karen,

I would check with your doctor about it. I can't say for sure. Dr. B assured me that me having bronchitis at the start of my transfer and through the wait wouldn't hurt my chances of a BFP. I believe him, he would never sugar coat it for me. But I can't help but think if I had been healthy and not on antibiotics, coughing, sneezing and not sleeping, maybe it would have worked.

Re: Flu & IVF

feel better soon! we just all got over the flu here. Pretty much all the symptoms were gone within a week for us, the cough lasted a couple extra days a did the fatigue, but those weren't bad at all at that point. I hope you have a speedy recovery and get over it as quickly if not quicker. Are you on Tamiflu? I think that really shortened the recovery time. If you have 3 weeks until you start things for the cycle, I would think that you would be fine.

I got very, very sick during my IVF cycle - terrible cough that traveled to my lungs. I even resorted to using my daughter's nebulizer Chat Icon My doc still went through the retreival and transfer, and I still ended up PG Chat Icon

Thanks ladies. I emailed the nurse today to see what she thinks.
