Flu shot during 1st trimester
It's time for flu shots...they're being administered by my job next week.
Just got my BFP...so I'm probably about 4 weeks along. I won't have my first appt with the OB for another few weeks. I feel awfully silly talking to a doc I don't know (switched OBs) with this question. I guess I could speak to a nurse in the office....
I've googled it and it seems 'okay' - but what have you heard? Has anyone had the flu shot this early in their pregnancy?

I called my OB last week to ask this since they are giving the shot around here b.c with DD I got it before I conceived her. I was told that they highly recommend it but NOT in the 1st trimester.
I would call your OB's office and ask b.c they may have different guidelines.
Etd to add my OB's office is affiliated with Columbia Presbyterian so they might do things different than on LI.

I was given mine today right away by dr. Dolisi. I also work in a hospital and I am the designated flu floor for patients.

since the flu vaccine is an inactivated vaccine, it is safe to get at any point during pregnancy.

Don't feel silly for asking a doctor a question like that. I think it's a good question to ask. The flu shot is recommended for pregnant women, but I'm not sure if it's recommended for those in the first trimester. Check with your OB.

My OB recommended and gave it to me in my first trimester. Call your OB.
