Flu shot- reactions?
DD got the first part of the flu shot today She goes back in a month for the second part. They said she could spike a higher fever than with the other shots and also that the injection site might be MUCH more sore than with other shots. Wonderful. She just got over a stomach virus like YESTERDAY and now here we go again!
Just curious what your baby's reactions were to the flu shot at 6 months old??

Re: Flu shot- reactions?
DD got it at 9 months. She also had 2 other vaccines that day, but it was ones she had previously gotten Not to scare you but she got it on Thurs. Fri night she got a fever...ok, no biggie. Went up to 103. By Sunday we were in the ER with a 105.9. Dr's all said it was NOT a reaction to the flu shot but I dont believe them. Said it was a virus. To me, WAY too coincidental. Did not take her back for dose #2.

Re: Flu shot- reactions?
DS got his first flu shot at 9 months. He didnt get a fever or show any signs of beign sore. He did get a cold but in fairness I thought he was gettign one PRIOR to getting hte shot. I even had a Dr check him out prior to giving the shot.
So I cant say it was a side effect of the shot. Just bad timing!

WONDERFUL! Ugh. I'm not a big fan of flu shots in general- but she is in daycare and I know how serious it can be in babys. I just hate this!

Its very important for them to get the flu shot, especially if in daycare. The flu is way worse for them than any potential reaction. I was against it too but did it. I knew my post would worry you so I wasnt even going to post it. I think my case is very rare. And MAYBE it was a virus..I was just so mad after that happened. I wouldnt worry.

My girls have gotten the flu shot every year since they were 6 months old. They've never had a reaction.

Re: Flu shot- reactions?
DD has had both, at 7.5 and 8.5 months, and NO reactions.
my friends who have had their DC's vaccinated as well, babies who are all under the age of 1, have had no reactions whatsoever either.

Re: Flu shot- reactions?
Thanks I feel better. I know she probably wont' get a reaction and if she does it will be mild. I just worry anytime they put something in my baby! But it's for her own good in the long run!

Re: Flu shot- reactions?
Chase just got his Flu Shot Tuesday with half of his 6mth shots. He goes back in 4 weeks for the booster n rest of 6mth shots.
He seemed a lot more tired than usual and last night he was cranky. We had a tough time getting him down. We have been giving Tylenol as needed.
He doesn't seem to have a fever. We feel the same way as you when he gets any shots. But we r goin on an Airplane in 3 weeks for the 1st time. Figured this was a smart move to protect our Lil guy.
Hang in, I'm sure your LO will be just fine.

Re: Flu shot- reactions?
Kieran got his first one at 9.5 months and had no reaction. Got the second round at 10.5 months and ran a fever, high 101, low 102 on and off for a day or 2, didn't affect him at all though- he still acted fine. I'm sure she'll be fine!

Re: Flu shot- reactions?
Neither of my girls had any reaction to the flu shot. DD#1 did have nasty reactions to both the MMR and the CP though.
