Flu shot side effects
I know some people say they get the actual flu from the shot, I never have, but I just got the shot on Monday and I am feeling very achy and lethargic. Last year when I got the shot, I had NO side effects. So, just a heads up, if you are getting the shot, it is very possible that you might feel side effects.

Re: Flu shot side effects
It's not possible to get the flu from the shot.
"The flu shot uses an inactivated or killed vaccine. This vaccine can't give you the flu. However, flu vaccine, like other vaccines, can occasionally cause a reaction. Feeling some response to the shot is not unusual. The vaccine acts to stimulate your immune system and prepare you to resist infection. You may feel your body's protective activity through mild symptoms. Also, some people may experience symptoms of mild sickness after getting a flu shot, but these symptoms are not necessarily connected to the shot."
I've gotten in the past 15 years with no side effects. DEFINITELY better than the flu--my DH was out of commission for a month last winter with it!

Re: Flu shot side effects
They told me that you could have some effects (tired, low grade fever, sore) but you can't get the actual flu from the shot.
I got it on Saturday and luckily didn't have any effects.

Just wanted to let you know you cannot get the flu from the flu shot. It is not a live vaccine and it cannot cause the flu. People think this happens but it is just coincidence that you could have been exposed to the flu prior to the shot and it was incubating or you are sick from something else. Sorry you aren't feeling well though, hope you feel better soon.
ETA: I know you didn't say that you got the flu from the shot I just wanted to put that out there because I am a certified immunizer so I'm a reliable source

Re: Flu shot side effects
I had this conversation with my doc. I got mine last night and today I'm feeling a little under the weather. But it's a whole lot better than getting the flu! I'll be fine tomorrow.

If you can't get one from you PCP places like CVS, Stop and Shop, and Walgreens all offer Flu Shot Clinics where they have a company come in with say 150 shots once in Oct and once in Nov and when they are gone they are gone.
