flu shot when sick
i am pretty sure you arent supposed to get a flu shot when you are sick, right?
DS is 27 months and has a cold (congested, runny nose) so I called to reschedule his flu shot appt tonight and they told me that if I choose to give up his appt, I will have to go back on a wait list and there is a chance he wont be able to get it 
they said that if he doesnt have a fever, it should be OK, but since he is under 3 maybe he shouldnt???
i cant believe they wont reschedule me for later this week or early next week???
what do i do?????

I personally wouldnt give him the shot but that is ridiculous that you would have to go back on the wait list.

DS got the H1N1 mist last Monday and he had a little cold when he got it... runny, congested nose and no fever.
The only reason they would not have given it to him was if he had a fever.
So I went ahead and got it for him and he was fine. In fact, 1 week later after the mist and his runny, congested nose is actually better than it was before the mist!!!

I would get the flu shot. Everytime DS has gotten the flu shot he's always had a cold beforehand and it never did any harm. If he had a fever, then I would wait.

i know, right???
i called again and they said if the dr feels he is too sick to get it when we go tonight they will try to be accommodating and reschedule us. and that we have a better chance of getting a new appt if the dr says not to get it rather than not going.

As long as it just a sniifle and cough you are fine. Just no fever. I had the same situation they still gave it do DS. It is a dead shot. Also I remembered reading it on the CVS waiver for mine.. as long as you didn't have a fever you were good.
