Flu shot? Yes or no?

Quick question: DS has his 1 year checkup tomorrow. I think they may offer him the flu shot. Not sure what to do…. Will you give your child the flu shot… and why? Thanks so much!

Re: Flu shot? Yes or no?

Scotty has gotten the flu shot for the past 3 years, and he'll get it this year. He gets asthma, so they highly recommend it for him.
As for Cassidy, I THINK I'll have her get it, but I'm not entirely sure yet.

Marissa is going to get it this year. Some drs. also offer the mist but some insurance companies doesn't cover it.

Re: Flu shot? Yes or no?

Delaney will get it. It's recommended for children under 2 and for those children in day care (which Delaney is)

None for my kids, usually the strain that everyone gets is not the one given in the shot, so I'll keep my kids away from any added thimerasol, too risky, plus I know of too many people who get the shot and get the flu real bas anyway!

Re: Flu shot? Yes or no?

Yes. He is getting it next month. I decided to because I get the flu EVERY year. Really bad. Last year when I was pregnant I got the flu shot and did not get the flu even though everyone around me had. So if I can prevent him from getting it I am going to.

No for Claire, she is very healthy, and my DH and I never get the flu shot and we have never gotten the flu. She is not in daycare, so I dont see it as being necessary for her. Plus, there seems to be too many stories of people getting the flu after getting the flu shot....

My kids won't get one. I made myself a complete wreck the last two years with wanting them to have one and then the shortages and all and this year I'm just saying no right from the get go. I figure I'm doing my part for everyone else...if I don't try to get it, there's bound to be a surplus. Chat Icon

The mist is only for 5 and over.

DS is getting one...my sister and mother watch him in the afternoons and they both work in schools, so who knows what they bring home.

Plus I may start him in a PT daycare program in feb...

I don't think I'll be getting one (and I am PG). I've never had one, don't see the need to start it now.

Andrew will most likely not get one either. Unless his pedi encourages me too when he goes for his 18-month visit, we won't be getting it for him.

My Ped recommended it for my daughter who will be one in Decmeber - he also said that it was a good idea being she is in "daycare" and around other children.

I have an appt. scheduled for it in November, but I am still up in the air about it.

Re: Flu shot? Yes or no?

I'm honestly not sure. I've been debating this. I may be getting one for myself though.
