Flying during pregnancy for SIL shower
My SIL is pregnant too. At the time of her shower I will be 35W2D-which I know is pushing it.
I live 10 hours away and I would need to fly home to get to the shower.
My own shower is the week before, I will be 34W2D and DH and I are driving up for the trip.
I love my SIL and want to make every effort to go, but I am not sure. I'll ask the Dr. But what would you do?

Re: Flying during pregnancy for SIL shower
I'm getting on a plane in a few days at 15 weeks and people are asking me if I'm allowed to fly.
At 35 weeks, I'm sure the MD will say NO!

Your doctor may not let you. That's pretty late to be traveling.

Re: Flying during pregnancy for SIL shower
My Dr said I could fly throughout my entire pregnancy as long as I was feeling ok. She said after 36 weeks it's flying at your own risk because there's a change you could go into labor and not be home.
I know that Delta has no resitrictions on pregnant women on their flights.
I would talk with your Dr because they would be able to give you the best advice.

Re: Flying during pregnancy for SIL shower
I would def. not fly. I flew at 29 weeks (which is the latest my dr. said she would want me to fly anyway) and while I was fine, I would DEF. IN NO WAY fly at 35 weeks. You are so uncomfortable to begin with then that a flight may just send you over the edge.
IMO your SIL would def. understand!!

Re: Flying during pregnancy for SIL shower
I wouldn't. I just turned down one of my closest friends weddings because if this. I will be close to 30 weeks, which isint a huge deal. But would have to go myself, then drive 2/3 hours after landing at airport. it so stinks to miss out on things that are important to you and the people that you love, but so far I have found people to be really understanding.

Thanks for the help; I think you guys are right and I'll have to miss it. I'll just give her a really great gift the week before.

To me it just would so not be worth the risk. I'm sure your SIL would understand.
ETA: You have a great heart for even considering going.

the airlines will let you fly. i flew at 38 wks (i had no choice we were moving and thats the only ay i could get there since dh was already there) and no one even looked twice at me on the plane. just clear it with your doc since that is a long flight.

Re: Flying during pregnancy for SIL shower
I wouldn't do it. I would be too afraid to be that far from my doctor/hospital if something happened. I am sure she'll understand.

Re: Flying during pregnancy for SIL shower
I would not fly at 35 weeks. I read that 32 weeks is the point of cutoff where cabin pressure can trigger your water to burst.
