Flying while Pregnant
Has anyone been on a plane while pregnant? I have to fly this week, and am nervous but everything I've read says its safe.
Any recommendations or suggestions to make it comfortable?

Re: Flying while Pregnant
I am flying Thursday to San Juan - for two days and then taking a cruise!!!
My doctor said go and enjoy. I am not going to worry about it. I will just make sure to up my fluids and take frequent stretches/walks. I am 8 weeks the flight is around 4 hours.

Re: Flying while Pregnant
I flew to Europe when I was 9wks PG (and back when I was 10wks.) I really wasn't too bad. (Other than the flight being long.)
I'm going to add--- wear support panty hose (helps with the swelling). Pack some snacks in case you get hungry. I brought my own travel pillow so that I would be more comfortable. I also did not remove my shoes on the plane. (Your feet are more likely to swell when you are PG.)
Good luck and have a safe flight.

Re: Flying while Pregnant
I flew several times. Drink lots of water and get up and walk around in the plane since pregnancy increases the risk of blood clots. The same goes for long car rides. Other than that go and enjoy your trip!

Re: Flying while Pregnant
Definitely bring snacks and a friend of mine told me (which I did) was get patted down and not to go through the x-ray machine...her dr. told her to do that.

Re: Flying while Pregnant
Alot of docs will usually recommend you to fly rather than drive... just keep hydrated!!

Re: Flying while Pregnant
With my son, I flew to NY when I was 33 weeks. Drink pleny of water and try to walk around if it's a long flight. Also wear comfy clothes.

Re: Flying while Pregnant
I'm a flight attendant and 10 weeks pregnant. I fly three days a week and have had no issues. My docotor has given me the go ahead to continue working until I feel to physically uncomfortable to do so.

Re: Flying while Pregnant
I flew while I was 10-11 weeks. My OB said it was fine, just to drink water and try not to stay sitting for more than 1 hr. They said the biggest reason they wouldn't want me to fly was if I was 7-9 months, they want me close to home...just in case!

Re: Flying while Pregnant
I flew at 7 weeks and was fine. I also have trips scheduled when I'll be at 10 weeks and again at 21 weeks. My dr said no problem as long as I am not having any issues because then it's no flights for me!
