Flying with a 21 month old.......
Should I buy her her own seat? If I do, am I supposed to hook up her britax to the plane seat or can i just check it with the luggage?

Re: Flying with a 21 month old.......
I flew with Nicholas when he was 18 months old and we bought him his own seat. We use "Cares", that is a "belt" approved by FAA. It was good because he was hold by his arms with this system and we didn't have to carry the carseat. Here is the link if you want to check it.

Re: Flying with a 21 month old.......
we JUST flew with Bella on like four planes and we didn't get a seat for her. Three of the four flights we were in a two seat set-up, one we were in three seats and the middle one was empty. She slept through 3 out of the four take-offs on my lap...which helped.
Bella did great. She slept on all of the flights at least an hour (two hour + flights)
we didn't bring a car seat, we just rented one with our car for fifty bucks (so much easier)
lots of coloring books and new little toys for her to be distracted...we definitely didn't miss the seat.

Re: Flying with a 21 month old.......
We've only been to NY with Nate and have never bought a seat. If the flight was longer than 2hrs we definitely would have around that age. If you don't buy a seat, bring your carseat anyway. If the plane is not full, you can bring it on with you. If it is full you can check it in.
FYI.... I don't like using carseats from car rental places. We did it once and the seat was gross. I'm pretty sure they don't clean them very often.

really? ours was wrapped in shrinkwrap with a date (3 days prior) that it was cleaned...it was like brand spanking new...I would have flipped if it wasn't, yuck.

Re: Flying with a 21 month old.......
We recently starting buying Jack a seat and also learned that for Jack sitting in a car seat was not a good move on the plane. He threw a fit...to resticting. For us, it works better to strap him in using the regular seatbelt.
