Flying with Baby
We would like to go see my parents in Florida this June or July. DS will be 6 or 7 months by then.
When you fly, how do you secure baby in a seat? Did you get an extra seat for them at all, or just hold them at this age? Can you bring the carseat on board?
Guess I should call the airline too, but I am curious as to how this has worked for others.

Re: Flying with Baby
At 6 months you can get the baby a seat, or you can keep the baby on your lap. I flew to california when DD was 5 months. I didn't get her a seat, but held her in the Bjorn during the flight. I did bring the car seat attachment to her stroller, since we would be driving in California. on the flight back there was an empty seat, so we used that and put DD in her car seat.

Re: Flying with Baby
I took ds to fla with me when he was 4 mo. He sat in my lap. I brought the car seat & snap & go stroller & they take it right before you get on the plane & then give it back as soon as you get off.
It was so easy to travel with him so you shouldn't have a problem. The flight attendants are usually nice if you have a baby with you

Re: Flying with Baby
DH and I are taking DS to visit FIL in Florida in 2 weeks (he'll be 3 mos) and then I'm taking him to Georgia alone in June (4 mos). We did not buy him a seat for either flight, he'll be on our laps. If you opt to buy him a seat, you will need to bring your car seat on the plane - that's what he'll sit in. If you opt not to buy a seat for him you can hold him in your lap, he just cannot share your seatbelt. When I was 16 I took my 10 month old niece back to Georgia and I did the lap thing on my own. If I could do it alone at 16 you can definitely do it no problem - it just depends on your comfort level.

Re: Flying with Baby
Thanks for the suggestions! DH will be there too, so it sounds as if holding him in our seats should be okay. I'll see how he is with the bjorn by then, but he seems to have developed a dislike for it suddenly.

Re: Flying with Baby
We've flown 3x with DD and just had her as a lap child. It has always worked out fine.
