flying with lap child - do you get in trouble if you don't call ahead

do you get in trouble if you don't call ahead and alert the airline that you'll be traveling with a lapchild?

i was always under the impression that you had to call ahead, and the last time i flew on jetblue, it completely slipped my mind and i freaked out. the agent at the check in counter was like oh it's okay, no problem! she grabbed all of DD's info and put her in the system immediately

if i can just handle it while checking in, i'd rather do that than wait on hold for-ev-er trying to get an agent on the phone line. she's a lapchild, so not like i'm asking for a seat.

anyone know? does it depend on the airline? help please Chat Icon

I am not sure I understand what you mean by call ahead. when I booked our flight, I entered everyones name and bith date and selected that KJ will be a lap infant

I think it depends on the airlines. We flew Southwest in February and we just told them and had DS's birth certificate when we checked in.

I have flown with ds a couple of times and I had to enter him when I purchased my ticket ~ Child under 2 ~ had to put birthdate etc. ~ I would call just to be sure or go and check on there website

PS I have never heard of call ahead when you have a lap child unless this is something new

Good Luck!Chat Icon
