Re: flying with your pets
I've flown with my 2 Shih Tzu's before. They have to be all up to date on shots. The airline states this in its requirements but, they never checked mine. They were more concerned about the size of the carrier. The carrier has certain restrictions and has to fit under the seat in front of you. If it's a short flight, ok but if its a long flight (mine was 5.5 hrs) I wouldn't recommend it. It's too stressful for them JMO. As far as the sedatives, you the vet can give them something but my vet was against it bc it could cause them to breathe weird which can cause trouble in that altitude so he told me to give them a big bowl of pasta before the flight, I did and one of the slept for most of the trip. The other one not so much. Panted the entire flight which totally strssed me out. My poor baby!
You can google it. Every airline is pretty much the same except for the prices.

Re: flying with your pets
you should also call your specific carrier and see what their regulations are. I recently flown jet blue from SFO to JFK and some lady had her down as carry on.
So might want to see if you can take them as carry on

Re: flying with your pets
thanks guys! i dont know if we'll even be taking the trip, but i just wanted to know people's experiences. my cats are terrible in the car, they cry, pee, and sometimes even foam in their mouths a little because they just get so upset and my concern with my pup is that he's 25lbs so he needs a bigger carrier and he barks, a lot, so there's no way i can bring him in the cabin.
