FMLA and teachers

Just wondering if anyone knows.....Can an employer force an employee to take the 12 weeks of FMLA even if they only requested to take 10 weeks?
TIA

Re: FMLA and teachers

no..your entitled to 12 weeks..

whether you want to take it all at once or within 1 year of your baby it is your choice.....

If you want to go back after 10 weeks they cant tell you not to return...

Re: FMLA and teachers

are you tenured? If you are not, they may have something up their sleeves. I would talk about it with your union rep

Re: FMLA and teachers

I'm due in December and can't go without being paid. I have about 10 weeks of time that will be paid so thats all I want to take.
The lady in personnel said that the Asst. Superintendent can force me to take the full 12 even though the last 2 would be unpaid.Chat Icon I explained nicely that I didnt understand how that could be as she doesnt know my personnel/financial status.
They're driving me nuts.
