Foam or Coil Crib Mattress

I'm trying to decide between a foam or coil crib mattress. Baby bargains recommends foam. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Foam or Coil Crib Mattress

I have a coil. I picked one according to the number of coils. The mattress has to be firm.

They say it's easier to change and just as firm as the coil.

Hmmm, i have 2 girls- one is 16 months and the other is 2.5 months, i've never had any issues changing sheetsChat Icon

If you unsure def pick up one of the mattresses at BRU or BBB that are set up in the cribs, that might help.

Personally i don't trust that BB book, it seems like all marketing to me and how do we know that they arent' taking the highest bids from manufacturers to endorse one product over another.

That's my ramble...

but thank you for giving their explanationChat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Foam or Coil Crib Mattress

I have a coil and DS seems very comfy on it. I got at BRU. It got great reviews on BRU site.

The Simmons Baby Beautyrest BackCare VII offers supreme comfort for your baby with 231 individual pocketed contour flex coils. Firm cushioning on top and bottom of the mattress. Two 9" gauge border wires for edge support, Reinforced stain and wet-resistant cover wipes clean in seconds, and a Lifetime Warranty. Made in the USA.

I think mine is a combination of both. BBB said it was the best but it is also the most $$$ so who knows.

I got foam and have been happy with it. I appreciate how lightweight it is. Another benefit -- great foam mattress costs the same as a mediocre coil mattress. To get a really good coil you end up spending at least twice as much.

That was the other big point that Baby Bargains made.

Can I ask where you got yours? BB said that a lot of chains don't carry foam, since the profit margin is less than coil.
