Follie check

2: 15 and 16. Little ones on the left..nothing happening there.

It looks like by tomorrow we will make a decision whether to do IVF or convert to IUI. Probably IUI.

I'm pretty disappointed but at least I'll have a shot at an IUI..it's something but obviously my odds are way better with IVF..just not enough follies to do it.

No, in the city. I have to work tomorrow. I don't know for sure if they will even do an IUI, but the doc said that Davis was in tomorrow and they will make a decision then. The doc that saw me thought they would convert if there was sperm available. There is but there are some morphology issues.

With an IUI do they do something to the sperm to make it the best possible sperm? Take out the two headed backward swimmers or something?

I'm so sorry you didn't get better news today. Hopefully some of those other follies will catch up and you can move ahead with the IVF. If not, then I'd go with the IUI...never know what is really meant to be!!

Yes, they "wash" the sperm leaving you with the best of the best to work with!

Re: Follie check

They reduced my Gonal F tonight to 300 from 450. Maybe tonight will be the last of the stims. (for now)

Is the trigger done at the office or at home by DH? Does it hurt?

Is it Ovidrel (sub-q) or an HcG (IM)? Both can be done at home...I actually do the HcG myself but it can ouch a little bit. They may do it in the office if you ask...only thing is it has to be timed to your IUI, so you would *USUALLY* trigger at night.

So if I trigger tomorrow night, when is the IUI usually?

Just trying to plan my week. Either way, acupuncture tomorrow.

Re: Follie check

so it looks like an IUI on Wed. As long as my E2 doesn't drop then that's the plan.

Davis said that doing IVF vs IUI with only two follies is not that much different statistically...I think I'll save the coin and do that for this cycle. Who knows..it could work.

If it doesn't I should have enough IVF benefit to do another round but will end up with some out of pocket for the meds....unless I can get some donated..but I'm not counting on that.

My left ovary is just not responding and he said that sometimes that happens. He also said that if we end up doing this again and only get two follies the next time after tweaking the protocol then that's just what my body does and we would do IVF with 2..

That's 10 steps ahead but that's what he said.

I'm really glad he's my doc.

eta: he also said that from one month to another it could be totally different. There are environmental issues that affect the body that make it respond differently.

Re: Follie check

Watch a video before you do the IM as a reminder. Make sure he doesn't pinch the area.

Well, its better to do the IUI and not waste the fund on 2. Though I will tell you that someone on the ivfc site had 3 and went to ER and they got 6 (which I still cannot believe). Wondering how that happens. But its true you can be completely different next month and sometimes the meds jump start your repro system.

And don't forget that IUI's do work. Maybe not for everyone but they do. So here's wishing you lots of luck and prayers for your IUI.

thanks.Chat Icon I asked Davis if there could be more or if some other follie could start to grow and he said no. This is it. He recommended the IUI at least but said if I wanted to try it would be high risk. He said if only one made it then the stats go way down.

At least they'll wash the sperm and make them the best of the swimmers. I've been very stressed out lately so I hope that won't hurt me but I'm going to get some well needed rest and take care of myself.

Now I just wait to see what happens with my estrogen. Pray it stays up.
