Follow-up at the OB after fainting spell...(UPDATE)
So I took the day off today since I hadn't felt back to normal after the fainting drama of the weekend.
DH and saw my OB earlier tonight and told him what happened. The nurse took my hemoglobin and I am still borderline anemic. The doc did another sonogram and Ed-lie couldn't be in better shape. Strong hearbeat. Moving around like crazy - so much so that we were all laughing because he couldnt take her measurements. He measured her at 5 pounds 15 ounces as opposed to the hospital which had her at 6lbs 3 oz. His machine was a lot more high tech - same one the perinatologist uses for Level 2s and amnios - so I tend to trust his more.
Anyway, he took more blood to test sugar, thyroid, etc just to make sure that it wasn't anything more serious than dehydration. My feeling according to what he was saying was that my sugar was too low. He stressed increasing my carb and sugar intake and to eat frequently. I got a chuckle out of it all because given my history of obesity and OVEReating, I NEVER forget to eat. Its just that since my stomach is so squished up there, I already feel full and don't feel urges to eat.
I'll get my blood work results tomorrow. DH also decided to be a bit of a jokester and stole one of the internal sonogram probe covers to jokingly pretend he was the family proctologist as he chased me out of the office with the cover on his fingers. I think I already have had my child . G-d love this man.
So after all of that discussion about carb intake, we RAN to Fridays to gorge on the epitome of all that is carbalicious...the coveted FRIED MACS AND CHEESE:
UPDATE
I heard from the nurse at my OB. It was my anemia that seemed to be the root of my issue. I told them that I was already on iron supplements and that if I took more, I'd never #2 (TMI - too bad). So now, even though I am so limited in what I can eat (space wise), what I DO eat, has to be iron rich. For the next month of my life, I will be dining on green leafy vegetables, red meat and chopped liver (the only organ meat I can tolerate).
Yesterday, my OB called the baby a "parasite" who basically takes everything from me, leaving me with nothing. So essentially, she is healthier than I am and she has not even been born yet. Totally stealing Mommy's thunder.

I'm so happy that you are ok and that the baby is healthy. My dr. told me at my second appt that I have slight anemia as well but she wasn't going to give me iron pills just yet.
Chopped liver huh??? Enjoy!!

Re: Follow-up at the OB after fainting spell...(UPDATE)
glad you're feeling better
ANEMIA SUCKS (please dont move this to the SUCKS board)
Just an FYI, I thought green leafy veggies were high in iron too, and was loading up on spinach when my hemoglobin had dropped to way below normal couple months back. Turns out spinach is actually an inhibitor so DO NOT eat spinach!
That mac and cheese looks yummy and I'm not even a mac and cheese fan

I was anemic before getting PG.I should have been on iron way before then. I am no where near transfusion level, but you never know what can happen when. I am going to load up on iron rich foods now and ask them to draw bloods next time I go see the doc which will be this coming Monday.

Glad to hear all is well with Ed-Lie.
Now I think I know what I'm having for dinner tonight!!! I think Fried Mac and Cheese would definately be worth the nausea I'll feel afterwards!

Re: Follow-up at the OB after fainting spell...(UPDATE)
Maybe talk to your Dr again about eating liver frequently (and ask about its vit A)... it's rather high in vit A... (animal-derived vit A can be a problem to a baby... less so in the 3rd trimester, but it still could be a bit of a problem)
on a happier note... may I suggest you make a giant pile of super cheesy burgers? mmmmm, giant juicy cheeseburgers that is definitely MY protein of choice! (especially with a slice of raw onion, pickles on the side, and a small squirt of kechup)
I'm suprised you didn't have cheese sticks alont with the fried mac and cheese... I also LOVE LOVE LOVE cheese sticks..... divine cheesy goodness

It may be high in Vitamin A, but as a gastric bypass patient, I am LOW in vitamin A from the get go. People like me BEFORE pregnancy are low in A, D, E, K and iron as well as B12 which was the regimen of vitamins I was on before TTC and the regimen I will be going back to once I am no longer PG. I work very closely with both my bariatric surgeon and my OB who cross check my intake.
I assure you that I do not have the capacity for that much chopped liver where it could come close to posing a threat to the health of my child. My stomach is less than one third the size of a regular stomach and I have malabsorption issues. Whatever nutrition I do get, the baby has taken. She is, essentially, healthier than I am.

Re: Follow-up at the OB after fainting spell...(UPDATE)
I didn't know that following your surgery you actually are deficient in oil soluble vitamins... I presume your Dr's have you on all sorts of supplements
you definitely have a lot to juggle with your diet and pregnancy...... It definitely adds a layer of complexity. good grief....
I guess the iron situation is somewhat complicated following your procedure too... Well, at least you know what the problem is now, and can attend to it... that fainting spell sounded quite scary!
(I brought up the liver situation since when I was in germany, I was dying to eat tons of liverwurst.... it's sooo yummy over there... but I forced myself to eat other things instead out of fear that I would OD After all, it's not like I could contact the Dr. and ask for what a reasonable liver limit is..... I was overseas w/o a phone card)
