Food & Wine Festival @ Epcot
Do you pay extra for the ticket? Do you just pay at the different booths? How worth it is it? Is it a must-see? And....is it kid friendly?
We both food, so I think I may have to hit this up now.

Re: Food & Wine Festival @ Epcot
It's included with your EPCOT park ticket. The food & wine is of course extra. If you are on the dining plan you can use snack credits at the booths for food.
It's pretty cool and I think it's worth checking out. It's more crowded in the evenings. It gets VERY crowded on the weekends.
I would say it's kid friendlier earlier in the day, earlier in the week (mon - tues -wed). But it is after all a wine festival so there are a lot of people drinking and there's no saying what could happen.
This doesn't seem to really impact the crowds on the other side of the park.

Re: Food & Wine Festival @ Epcot
I enjoy it but wouldn't plan a trip for it (we have also gone during the flower festival). It is basically a lot of small stands that sell small plates (tastings) of foods, often they also have beers, wines or specialty drinks. Nice for the adults. You can often use your Dining plan snack credit at them ($4) and under is what it used to be. I have friends who don't do meals that day and just do little tastings and drinks around the "world" instead. On a regular day it isn't that crowded but it does draw a little extra crowds. On weekends though it can get really packed as I think the locals come for it.
They do have some really nice (but can be expensive) adult programs- wine classes/tastings, food/cooking classes etc. I don't think you can bring children to them though. If that is something you are interested in.
They also have something called "Eat to the Beat" and they have some older groups or singers come and perform in their outdoor theater so you can hear them all around world showcase. Wow they have a good line up this year - when we went I hadn't heard of a lot of them - there are several I would want to see this year. This is this years list:
Taylor Dayne -Dates: September 30 - October 2, 2011 "Tell It To My Heart"
.38 Special -Dates: October 3—5, 2011 "Hold on Loosely"
Jon Secada - Dates: October 6 & 7, 2011 "Just Another Day"
Roger Hodgson formerly of Supertramp -Dates: October 8 & 9, 2011 "Give A Little Bit"
Billy Ocean - Dates: October 10—12, 2011 "Caribbean Queen"
Starship starring Mickey Thomas -Dates: October 13—16, 2011 "We Built This City"
Sugar Ray -Dates: October 17—19, 2011 "Fly"
The Orchestra starring former members of ELO - NEW! -Dates: October 20 & 21, 2011 "Don't Bring Me Down"
Howard Jones -Dates: October 22 & 23, 2011 "No One Is To Blame"
Boyz II Men -Dates: October 24—26, 2011 "End of the Road"
Gin Blossoms - NEW! -Dates: October 27 & 28, 2011 "Hey Jealousy"
Sister Hazel -Dates: October 29 & 30, 2011 "All For You"
Hanson -Dates: October 31 & November 1, 2011 "Give a Little"
The Pointer Sisters - NEW! -Dates: November 2 & 3, 2011 "He's So Shy"
Night Ranger -Dates: November 4—6, 2011 "Sister Christian"
Air Supply - Dates: November 7 & 8, 2011 "Lost in Love"
Richard Marx - Dates: November 9 & 10, 2011 "Right Here Waiting"
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy -Dates: November 11—13, 2011 "Go Daddy-O"

I just so happened to be visiting epcot around the time of the festival. You just pay your park admission; and can walk to all the booths in all the countries. Not sure i would go to Epcot JUST for that; but it was a nice treat while we were there.

Re: Food & Wine Festival @ Epcot
I absolutely LOVE F&W and would plan a trip for it. In fact, we're planning to go to F&W and the Halloween party again in 2012.
Like a PP said, admission to EPCOT is your admission to the festival.
They add many countries to the existing ones in World Showcase and you can walk around tasting small portions of food and wine (as PP stated, you can use snack credits for the food, which is awesome). We also really enjoyed the free wine tasting seminars and cooking demonstrations which they held at the old "Wonders of Life" Pavillion. We got to hear a presentation from the actual wine makers about the history of their vineyard and and see photos and video of the grapes and process while tasting the wine, and it was FREE!
We had an awesome time and did NOT spend extra money on any of the fancy dinners. We did the dining plan and basically saved our snack credits to go around the world with, and we just paid a few dollars each for some tastings of wine in those booths
