Food - 1st trimester
Is there a thread somewhere on foods or drinks to avoid the first trimester? i just got my BFP and am waiting on my first appointment with the doctor.
What food/drinks should I avoid? Can I still have my cup of coffee in the morning? TIA!

Re: Food - 1st trimester
That makes us both!! Congrats!
I "googled" safe food to eat during pregnancy and alot of info came up.
I am skipping caffeine all together because I hear its not good especially in the first trimester. I was having more cramps when I had my coffee, once I stopped the cramps stopped.

Re: Food - 1st trimester
I would contact your practitioner and see what they recomend,. there is no set list and so what you can eat varies from practitioner to practitioner.
My midwife told me to stay away from slcohol, caffeine, artificial sweeteners and limit my consumption of dark meat fish such as tuna and mackrel because of the mercury levels. I eat everythiing else.....
ALso, just because you haven't had your first appointment yet doesn't mena you can't call your practitioners office and ask these kinds of questions. A lot of them have little packets or lists with what foods and medications to avoid. Give them a call, maybe they can fax you one or you can stop by and pick one up or talk to a nurse!

I am in the same boat. I am a HUGE coffee drinker and cut it out completely. I sometimes have a cup of decaf but thats it (But my NP told me even one cup of regular is ok, I just choose not too) I was also told to stay away from deli meats and certain fish.
