Foot surgery and having a 3 year old...
How the hell am I going to do this?? I need surgery on my foot that will require being off my feet completely for about a week...I am screwed.
My DH is going back to work after being out for 6 months with a herniated disc and I have to squeeze this in somehow between back to back freelance projects... W-T-F am I going to do?
I am not sure I can even drive her in the AM to daycare, which would obviously help (DH leaves at 5 am for work) PLUS, they are trying to schedule me for the day after Easter so her school is closed that week. And, that is two and a half weeks before I have multiple 12 hour shoot days where I have to be on my feet and I have to be 100%, which is a joke...
I cannot suffer through another summer with a freaking boot, so if I don't do this now before this next project I am looking at September, which my DH was just yelling at me about...
How can I swing this with a commute to the city and a 3 year old??

Re: Foot surgery and having a 3 year old...
I'm not sure what type of foot surgery you're having, but I had it when I had Maddie & Joe (I think they were 2&3 or 3&4).
My recovery was 2 days completely off my feet. Day 3 I could put my foot down without screaming in pain. Day 4 I was walking/shuffling.
I had a relative do pick ups & drop offs for the first few days. After that it was me, 2 kids & my boot. It was definitely doable (if you're having the same type of surgery).
One thing that was a lifesaver is my doctor wrote a note to the town so I could get a handicap permit. It made trying to find parking easier at the train station.
Also my reasons for doing it in early spring & early fall was so I didn't have to worry about dealing with ice/snow or the cold weather.
Just reread that you're off for a week. I would ask the school if they can have someone meet you at the front entrance so you're not walking. Do you have anyone that can help you out?

Re: Foot surgery and having a 3 year old...
Thanks Barb...I am having an interior cyst removed and also some tendon surgery. He is saying 4-7 days off the feet. The way you are explaining yours it sounds like what I would have to do. I could probably have my sister and cousin do drop-offs in the am and DH would do pick-ups...but, it will still be a fun struggle to get her ready in the AM.
I commuted with a broken foot and what appears now to have been tendon damage for 6 weeks this summer...it was not fun. I was not a smart patient. I want to make sure I can heal correctly this time...but I have limited time to be off my feet.
How were you after two weeks?
Oh, and a portion of this surgery is exploratory, so there may be a cast of some sort involved, but I think the doc knew I had limits before I backed out, so he quickly said something about a bridge and crossing it when we got there.
