For all of the tv trivia gurus...Little House on the Prairie? What happened in the last episode? ETA: I found out what happened!

Settle an argument between DH & I...

in the LAST episode, what happened?

Dh said that they all blew up their houses and that was the end of the show.

I don't believe him and I can't remember what happened. I doubt they would end the show like KAABOOM!!!
With the credits rolling after the house blows up.

I know this is a dumb question, but I have to know. It is driving me crazy. Chat Icon

Last episode: Bless All the Dear Children
A trip to Mankato for some Christmas shopping flares into a nightmare when Laura and Almanzo's 2-year-old daughter is kidnapped by Elsa Norris, a young woman who has experienced deep anguish over the loss of her unborn baby. While Laura, Almanzo, and Mr. Edwards embark on a frantic search for little Rose, Elsa brings the toddler home to her husband Patrick, and they care for her as their own. Matters are complicated when Samuel, a 7-year-old runaway from an orphanage in Mankato, tracks down the Wilders and travels with them in their search. Upon locating Rose and learning the true motives behind Elsa's actions, Laura and Almanzo forgive the woman's mistakes--and with young Samuel's deep emotional need for a family of his own, Elsa and Patrick make a decision that will make this the greatest Christmas ever for a very special child.

Meanwhile, back in Walnut Grove, Nels Oleson struggles to help Nancy discover the true spirit of Christmas while Harriet is out of town, and Jason Carter takes drastic measures to afford a special present for his mother.

WOW! I found it and DH IS right! I am emailing this to him now. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

When Charles receives a 4-week paid vacation from his employer, he and Caroline decide to leave the younger children with an aunt and travel back to their beloved Walnut Grove for a visit. They are both delighted to reunite with Laura, her family and their friends, and they even get an opportunity to stay in their old house while John and Sarah Carter are out of town. Unfortunately, what begins as a joyously nostalgic trip down memory lane flares into an unimaginable battle when the Walnut Grove community learns that another man has legal ownership of the land. The coldhearted Mr. Lassiter is willing to let the current residents keep their homes and jobs, but only if they agree to work under his control--a compromise that nobody is about to accept. Armed with rifles, anger, and unprecedented determination, the townspeople take the fight as far as they can, but when Mr. Lassiter uses his upper hand in the matter to force them all off the land, they reach a unanimous solution to even things out. It will arguably be the most devastating and emotional decision that this community will ever make, but after spending all these years building such a beautiful town together, they take the strongest possible actions against Mr. Lassiter's shameless cruelty.Nathan Lassiter wants the people to stay and work for him as tenants, an idea that the residents of Walnut Grove find disagreeable, more so as he uses intimidating tactics and they discover the man's attitudes. Laura will not have it, and in frustration begins smashing her house. At a town meeting, they all decide the same, and one of the residents offers a supply of explosives that he has. Laura's house is the first to be destroyed. Everyone trails detonating wire as they leave town, and take turns wiring to the battery to destroy the town's buildings. The pastor leads prayers, and then Lassiter, and a cavalry unit, and mayors of other nearby towns Lassiter is trying to acquire, arrive. Lassiter is furious, wanting everyone arrested by the cavalry. One of the townsfolk reminds Lassiter he can acquire the land, but the buildings belong to the people. The cavalry leader agrees. One of the other mayors warns Lassiter, "if you try this in my town, you'll find the same thing." The other mayors say the same. "Did you hear that?" asks the Walnut Grove pastor. "Walnut Grove did not die in vain!" Cheers, then they roll out in their wagons, singing "Onward Christian Soldiers".

Aww. I loved Little House on the Prairie growing up.

I'm sad to hear that they blew the town up. I don't remember that episode, but it's still sad all these years later.

I know. Yesterday was the episode when Laura and her blind BF Adam celebrate her B-day with her family. Laura made her a b-day card in Braille, and everyone was crying. I started crying like a big baby. Chat Icon
