My friend posted this on FB last night, it's so true. I still get anxiety when they were poking me with the orange stick on my shoulders and said

"can you feel this?"
"why yes, yes I can...."
"umm okay how about you cough to get the medicine moving"
"how about you don't cut until I say I'm numb" lolol

Haha oh no, that was a freak accident!! I was hoping I updated it quick enough before anyone saw that!!! Mixture of a weird auto correct/type and accidentally hitting post too quick.

Re: for all the C Section mamas

Nice article.

I loved my C-Section.

Best thing ever.

And yeah, it was weird being alone on the cold operating table - no significant other, no family, nothing. Just me and the Romanian anesthesiologist giving me the drugs to numb me so we could begin. A couple of nurses roaming around. That's it.

But that part was kind of empowering. I was like, here I am Chat Icon

I threw up that entire sour drink they gave me before. I'm glad DH wasn't in yet. But being alone as i felt my whole body go numb was scary. Much preferred my myomectomy when i counted down from 10 and was just out cold.

Both surgeries i threw up for the next 24 hours fairly regularly.

The part about being alone without DH while they give you a spinal and prep you is so true. The entire time I was laying there, I kept thinking, can he come in yet, please? It' wasn't awful, just weird and slightly uncomfortable, not being able to move. Very true article!

I didn't mind my c-section and wasn't scared at all being in the OR without DH. I was just focused on getting to meet DS.

Can I ask, what sour drink?

They didn't make me drink anything.

While my DH wasn't in the OR when they were administering the spinal block, my OB was. He came up to me gave me his thumbs and said "Just squeeze the shit out of my thumbs and DO NOT move" I thought that was really cool of him to do, he could've been doing 1,000 other things but making sure I was calm was #1.

The OB who did my cs and wasn't even my doctor held both my hands while they did my spinal and talked to me the whole time. She and the anesthesiologist were so great at reassuring me so I didn't mind DH not being in the room. I also didn't find the epi or spinal to be abig deal either time.

The one thing that freaked me out a bit was hearing the nurses in the background naming and counting the instruments. That was the thing that made realize that I was really about to have surgery!

My cs was great and that's coming from someone who already had a vaginal birth, was considering going unmedicated, and never once considered that I'd ever need a cs. Apparently it's CS awareness month so I've seen a lot of great blog posts recently including this one.

It's an antacid. I had to drink it for all three of mine...at two different hospitals.

I mostly hated all of my c-sections, but loved this article. It made me feel like I was Superwoman!

Re: for all the C Section mamas

I couldn't have read this at a better time.
I have to have a Scheduled c section with my mono/di twins and even since this has been determined, I feel like people look at it like the easy route.
No, it wasn't what i thought my birth plan would be but what IS my plan is to come home with BOTH of my babies. I never knew how sections were viewed before reading this. Made me feel sad. Like I was being excluded from this elite group of vaginal birth moms.
Reading this made me realize that a section is the furthest from an easy route. (Which I NEVER viewed it as easy, ever).

Re: for all the C Section mamas

I was sick during my last csection from the antacid they give you to drink. I guess it was a combination of that plus the shifting of my organs that had me vomiting.
