For all the mommies and kiddies who enjoy the street fairs, thought I would share a Spring/Summer schedule:
They are a lot of fun on a nice day and usually free!!
Tribeca Family Festival Street Fair Saturday, May 1, 10am-6pm Greenwich Street from Chambers to Harrison Sts Enjoy special performances on indoor and outdoor stages and throughout the neighborhood streets, along with surprise appearances by characters from movies, books, and television. Broadway performances, local restaurants and merchants, refreshments, and merchandise. Local schools are sponsoring a variety of fundraising activities, from hairspray painting to bookmark making. Kite-flying, and the Bubble Garden are there again this year, plus lots of live music and the Arts & Crafts pavillion. The free Snowmen screening is part of this event.
Romania Day Festival Saturday, May 1 Broadway from Fulton Street - Battery Place Traditional Romanian food and drinks are served, while folk art is exhibited. Artists and renowned musicians perform live for the audience, the largest gathering of Romanians outside the country's borders. The Festival culminates with a dinner gala for the sponsors.
Calhoun's 47th Annual Carnival Saturday, May 1, 11am-5pm 81st St between West End Ave & Riverside Dr Perfect for children, ages 3-12 years old, this all-community party features rides, games, prizes, craft activities and the first barbecue of the season. Entrance is free; rides, crafts and games cost $1-$4.
The Annual Village Fair Sunday, May 2 Broadway from Houston to Grand Street A wide variety of arts and crafts, antiques, ethnic cuisine, and various other exhibits on hand.
CityKids Block Party Sunday, May 2, 12-6pm Leonard St between Church and West Broadway Music, workshops and performances, but the highlight is watching Sherpard Fairey (the artist creator of the famous Obama Hope poster) work with local teens on a 40 ft mural.
Civic Community Day Fair Friday May 7 Murray Street from Broadway - Church Street Over 300 International food, art, craft, antique and merchandise exhibitors will create a midway along 6th Avenue. Many cultural displays will be on view, plus a wide variety of multi-ethnic and entertainment will be present throughout the festival.
Gramercy Park Neighborhood Festival Saturday, May 8 Broadway from 17th - 23rd Street Over 200 American and International merchants, restaurants, food, art, craft, antique and merchandise exhibitors. Over 100 cultural and corporate displays will be on view, plus entertainment.
PS 39 Spring Carnival and Plant Sale Saturday, May 8 6th Ave. between 7th and 8th St., Brooklyn Pony Rides, a Bouncy House, Live Bluegrass Music, Games, Face-Painting, Delicious Food, Crafts, and fantastic raffle prizes. Come Celebrate Spring, and Play
West Side Montessori Spring Fair Saturday, May 8 W 92nd Street between Riverside and West End Enjoy multi-ethnic and home-cooked food and children's games; take a chance on a raffle; and purchase crafts, plants, and second-hand merchandise.
Ninth Avenue International Food Festival May 15-16, 9:30 am - 6:30 pm 9th Avenue from 37th Street to 57th Street Experience the delightful taste of various cuisines from different counrties like Poland, Italy, Spain, Greece, Asia and many others. Games and fun activities for the children. Live stage entertainment of international music and dance at 55th Street on Sunday May 16th.
Park Slope 5th Avenue Festival Sunday, May 16 5th Ave From 12th Street To Sterling, Brooklyn This huge family-friendly street fair has everything from live music to local stores and restuarants selling food and wares. You'll also find kiddie rides and activities like puppet-making with Puppetry Arts and more.
PS 84 Spring Fair Global Celebration W. 92nd St btwn Columbus Ave & Central Park West Jump around in the bouncy castle, slide down a 16-foot slide, play games and win fun prizes, face painting, arts and crafts, box maze, a silent auction, neighborhood vendors, international food, and live music. Free admissions, buy tickets for rides and games.
