For Janice- and anyone interestined in 2k calorie diet
OK- this is what the nutritionist gave me for GD. It has no white sugar (candy, soda, cake, etc) but does allow any/all carbs- when it says "starch" it means a carb. 1 serving of carbs is a 1/2 c pasta, white rice, 1 slice of bread (or two slices reduced calorie bread), etc. If anyone wants the conversions- FM me your email address- and Monday I can forward them as PDFs from work. Here's the sample menu- supposed to eat every 2 hours.
Breakfast: 1 meat/protein (1 hard boiled egg, 1 oz cheese, 1 tbs natural peanut butter) 1 startch (1 slice toast, 1/2 english muffin or small bagel) 1 fat (butter or oil- i guess you can't put this on the toast but i haven't figured out what to do w/ this yet).
Snack: 1 starch (1/2-3/4 cup high fiber, (not super sugared) cereal 1 milk (1 cup 1% milk)
Lunch: 3 meat (3 ounce flounder, chicken breast, lean meat) 2 starch (1 cup pasta, 2/3 cup rice, small potato) 2 vegetables (1 cup salad + 1/2 cup cooked broccoli) 1 fruit (2 small plums, 1 cup raspberries, etc) 2 fat (salad dressing, mayo, etc) 1 milk (i cup 1% milk)
Snack: 1 meat/protein (hardboiled egg, peanut butter, etc) I starch 1 milk 1 fat
Dinner: 3 meat 1 starch 3 vegetables 1 fruit 1 fat
Snack: 1 meat 1 starch 1 milk

Re: For Janice- and anyone interestined in 2k calorie diet
That was my diet when I had GD. It was a pain in the butt in the beginning but I got used to it (I was only on it for 5 or 6 weeks because I ended up going early). I ended up losing weight on it.

it isn't that bad actually I really don't mind eating this way- and it I'm hoping that when the baby comes I can stick to it and lose weight
over the past 2 days my blood sugar hasn't even gone over 120 so I guess it is working- or I really didn't have that high of a blood sugar to begin with (when my dad tests in the AMfasting- his is @ 160 and mine is 85!)

Re: For Janice- and anyone interestined in 2k calorie diet
I have been doing really well today! thanks again.
question: I had a multigrain waffle with honey instead of syrup..is honey better? or is it all the same? I can eat them plain, just wanted to eat something sweet today. The fruit wasn't cutting it
TIA!
