? for ladies with tube "issues"
Did anyone with confirmed tube issues have their RE recommend that a tube or tubes be removed prior to starting IVF? Especially if you have a history of ectopic pg? Just curious...

Re: ? for ladies with tube "issues"
I had one removed during exploratory laporscopic surgery (it was shot), and the other cauterized before my first IVF

Re: ? for ladies with tube "issues"
I don't have a history of ectopic pregnancy - and my RE didn't recommend doing anything to my tubes. My left is completely blocked and the right is mostly blocked, but he felt no need for removal as there was some opening in the right for IVF retrieval fluid to dissipate.

Re: ? for ladies with tube "issues"
I had both of mine removed during a expoloratory laproscopy. They were both just shut and "diseased" as the term the RE used. I also had lots of scarring which they removed as well.
I had 1 IVF prior to having my tubes taken out and 2 after.

My left is completely blocked and my right is fine, but it wasn't recommended to do anything for it prior to IVF.

Re: ? for ladies with tube "issues"
Thanks everyone. I had my annual visit with the GYN yesterday and we discussed my status. He told me to schedule a consult and find out what the RE thought about the remaining tube which is pretty damaged. He said that in some cases the RE will suggest the tube be removed before IVF.
Is there a risk of ectopic with IVF? I didn't think so, but ???
Personally, since I've already had a c-sec and 2 lapros, I was just really hoping to have to tube removed if I got pg through IVF when I had another c-sec - I dread the thought of yet another surgery...

If you leave your blocked tube in prior to IVF, you do run the risk of an ectopic. Good Luck! Hopefully, your RE will give you the answers you are looking for.
