for owners whose dogs love to lay on their couches...
When we first got our dog I was very adamant about not letting him on the couch but of course my DH had other ideas. After a while I just stopped fighting him on it. Besides I've come to love snuggling up next to my pooch. He's so cute when he plops down on my lap and just stares at me so that I'll start petting him 
Anyways my problem is that he's ruining my couch and loveseat. The bottom of his paws are very rough and its making those little balls with the fabric. The furniture is only about 5 yrs old and its already looking very worn. We've tried the whole slip cover thing but I feel likle it never fits right. Can anyone recommend a particular type of couch that wont get worn from the dog's paws?

Costco and BJs usually sell large nice throws for dogs. We have a few of them adn put them on the couch when the pooches are "invited up". Then they can bea easily tossed in teh wash. They have somore really nice colors and patterns..........

I personally heard that micro fiber couches hold up the best...but the throw is also a good option. I know a friend who does this...

We have a microfiber couch for 3 years now and so far so good. It's also a light color so you don't notice her white fur as much.

Micro Fiber... it's comfy and easy to clean and won't ball up with the rough paws.

You could also try couch protectors - Dr Fosters & Smith and Orvis sell them specially made to protect the couch from fur and paws.

We bought micro fiber couches from Raymour and they are so easy to clean!!! My dogs also shed a lot and it comes right up with the vacuum and you cant even see their hair and I have really light couches too. They ruined my first set of couches I bought...they are two little Chihuahuas.

Microfiber is definitely the best way to go with a pet who sleeps on your couch. It vacuums great and stains come right of.

we have sheets on everything and we only take them off when company is coming and then the dogs have to stay off anyway b/c most people do not like the dogs in their face when they are visiting.
Our dogs kinda know to, if the sheet isn't there, they can't go on the couch
