? for the BDTD BF moms re: medela pump
Hi ladies, I have a question because I'm not sure what equipment I need w/the medlea pump and what the easiest way would be to do it...
First, can you pump directly into a bag? Or does it have to be the bottle the pump comes with?
My problem/confusion is because I want to use born free bottles. I didn't see a conversion kit for the born frees to pump directly from the medela into them. So, would it work to get the medela bags and pump directly into the bag, then I guess I'd store/freeze the bag, defrost, and pour into my born free bottle when I want to use?
My main question is, would this be the easiest way to do it?
TIA!!!

You can pump directly into the bags- the directions for how to do it come with the pump as well as with the bags.

You can pump directly into the bag or use the containers that come with it to pump then transfer to storage containers later (that's what I do).

I think it's easier to pump into the bottle that come with the pump rather than the bags.

This is also what I did. I found it easier to pump into the bottles, I could prop them up so I didn't have to hold them the entire time (that gets old fast!).

See if the Born Free bottles screw on to the pump -- the Dr. Brown's bottles do -- then you might not even need a conversion kit. I pump directly into the Playtex Drop-in liners. It's so much easier to pump directly into either the bottle or the liner and not have to transfer. Are you using the Born Free because of BPA? If so, the Medela bottles are BPA free and you can buy a nipple and feed directly from them (although I think the nipple has a very fast flow). Also, the Playtex Drop-ins are BPA free, too.
